Elizabeth Horsch Bender
Elizabeth Horsch Bender (1895 - 1988) was an American Mennonite editor and translator. Bender was a native of Elkhart, Indiana, the daughter of John and Christine Funck Horsch. She was married to theologian Harold S. Bender, for whose books and articles she was the primary editor, the couple had two daughters. She took her BA degree at Goshen College and received her MA in German literature at the University of Minnesota. Bender translated works from Dutch, French, Spanish, German and Latin into German and English; most notably, her translation of the '' Mennonitisches Lexikon'' formed the basis for the ''Mennonite Encyclopedia Mennonites are groups of Anabaptist Christian church communities of denominations. John Horsch
John Horsch (18 December 1867 in Giebelstadt - 7 October 1941 in Scottdale, Pennsylvania) was a Mennonite historian and writer. Life John Horsch was born in Germany in Giebelstadt near Würzburg to Elder Jacob Horsch and his wife Barbara Landes. He married Christine Funck and was the father of three sons and a daughter, Elizabeth Horsch Bender, wife of Harold S. Bender. John Horsch studied for two years at the Bavarian State Agricultural School at Würzburg, graduating with a diploma in 1886. To avoid military service, he emigrated to the United States in 1887. He was employed by John F. Funk in the Mennonite Publishing Company, where he did much of the editorial work on German language publications from 1887 to 1895. He then served on the editorial staff of the Light and Hope Publishing Company of Cleveland, Ohio, before moving on to the Mennonite Publishing House of Scottsdale Pennsylvania, where he worked from 1908 to 1941. Lucie Horsch
Lucie Horsch (born 1999) is a Dutch recorder player. She started playing the recorder at the age of five, and received her first national recognition at the age of nine, when her performance at Kinderprinsengrachtconcert was broadcast on national television. She studied recorder with Walter van Hauwe and piano with Marjes Benoist and Jan Wijn at Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2014 she represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Young Musicians contest, and in 2016 she received the "Young Talent" award from Concertgebouw. She started an international solo career and she has been praised as one of the most talented recorder players of her generation. In 2017 her first recording was published, a collection of Vivaldi recorder concertos that won her the Edison Award.
