David Bayne Horn
David Bayne Horn (1901–1969) was a British historian specializing in diplomatic and European history of the 17th through 19th centuries. Biography Horn was born on 9 July 1901. His uncle, also David Bayne Horn (1851–1917?), had been assigned to the Public Works Department in Bengal. Horn was educated first at Edinburgh Institution, then studied at Edinburgh University, where he earned a first class honors degree in history. He subsequently received his MA in 1922. In 1923, Horn joined the staff of the History Department of the University as an Assistant in History. In 1927 he became a Lecturer in History, and in 1929, he was awarded the degree of D.Litt. at the University for his thesis on Sir Charles Hanbury Williams and European diplomacy. In 1954, he became Professor of Modern History. Harvey Horn (born 5 October 1995) is an English professional boxer who has held the WBO European flyweight title since 2019. As an amateur he won a silver medal in the light-flyweight division at the 2015 European Championships. Early life Harvey Horn was born on 5 October 1995 in London, England. His introduction to combat sports came through karate, earning a brown belt at the age of 10. Not long before turning 11, he began boxing at the Gator ABC gym in Woodford, East London. Gyula János Horn (5 July 1932 – 19 June 2013) was a Hungarian politician who served as Prime Minister of Hungary from 1994 to 1998. Horn is remembered as the last Communist Minister of Foreign Affairs who played a major role in the demolishing of the "Iron Curtain" for East Germans in 1989, contributing to the later unification of Germany, and for the Bokros package, the biggest fiscal austerity programme in post-communist Hungary, launched under his premiership, in 1995. Count Gustav Horn af Björneborg (October 22, 1592 – May 10, 1657) was a Finnish nobleman of the Swedish Empire, military officer, and Governor-General. He was appointed member of the Royal Council in 1625, Field Marshal in 1628, Governor General of Livonia in 1652 and Lord High Constable since 1653. In the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), he was instrumental as a commander in securing victory at the Battle of Breitenfeld, in 1631. He was High Councillor of the realm in 1625, elevated to the rank of field marshal in 1628, and sometimes commander-in-chief of Swedish forces in Germany during Thirty Years' War. George Henry Horn
George Henry Horn (April 7, 1840 – November 24, 1897) was a U.S. entomologist who specialized in the study of beetles. Born in Philadelphia, Horn attended the University of Pennsylvania, from which he graduated with a degree in medicine in 1861. From 1862 to 1866, he served in the American Civil War as surgeon to the infantry of the California Volunteers, during which time he collected insects extensively in California, Arizona, and New Mexico. He then returned to Philadelphia, where he established a medical practice, specializing in obstetrics, and was elected president of the Entomological Society of Philadelphia, the predecessor of the American Entomological Society. He would remain president of the latter society until his death. He was elected as a member of the American Philosophical Society in 1869. Sir Gabriel Horn, MD, ScD, FRS, FRCP (9 December 1927 – 2 August 2012) was a British neuroscientist and Professor in Natural Sciences (Zoology) at the University of Cambridge.
