Hori Naotora
was the 13th ''daimyō'' of Suzaka Domain (12,000 ''koku'') in northern Shinano Province (modern-day Nagano Prefecture), Honshū, Japan under the Bakumatsu period Tokugawa shogunate. His courtesy title was ''Nagato-no-kami'' (later ''Kura-no-kami''), and his Court rank was Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade. Biography Hori Naotora was born in Edo as the 5th son of Hori Naotada, the 11th ''daimyō'' of Suzaka Domain. In 1861, on the retirement of his elder brother Hori Naotake without an heir, he became ''daimyō'' of Suzaka. Immediately on assuming office, he removed 41 senior retainers from office, including the domain's ''karō'', and pursued an aggressive policy of reforms, which also include westernization and modernization of the domain's military capability. He also supported the politics of the Tokugawa shogunate against the increasingly restive pro-''Sonnō jōi'' faction, and was given the position of ''Ōbangashira'' in 1863. Dig Dug
is a maze game, maze arcade game developed by Namco in 1981 and released in 1982, distributed in North America by Atari, Inc. The player controls Dig Dug to defeat all enemies per stage, by either inflating them to bursting or crushing them underneath rocks. ''Dig Dug'' was planned and designed by Masahisa Ikegami, with help from ''Galaga'' creator Shigeru Yokoyama. It was programmed for the Namco Galaga arcade board by Shouichi Fukatani, who worked on many of Namco's earlier arcade games, along with Toshio Sakai. Music was composed by Yuriko Keino, including the character movement jingle at executives' request, as her first Namco game. Namco heavily marketed it as a "strategic digging game". Teikichi Hori
was an admiral in the Imperial Japanese Navy during the early twentieth century. During the interwar period, Hori was a prominent member of the Treaty Faction of the Navy, and opposed war against the United States and the United Kingdom. Hori was a close friend and mentor of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. Biography Teikichi Hori was born as the second son of Yasaburo Yano, who came from a samurai family from Ōita. At the age of 10, he was adopted into the Hori samurai family from Kitsuki by Masaharu Hori. was a Japanese translator and writer of poetry, short stories and novels. Early life Born in Tokyo, Hori studied Japanese literature at Tokyo Imperial University under Saisei Murō and Ryūnosuke Akutagawa. In addition to Japanese writers of the time, he read the works of Rainer Maria Rilke, Ivan Turgenev, Gerhart Hauptmann and Arthur Schnitzler, the French symbolists, and the philosophical writings of Arthur Schopenhauer and Friedrich Nietzsche. Ryūjo Hori
(born Matsue Yamada) was a Japanese dollmaker of traditional dolls. Biography Hori started her career as a painter, but switched to doll making after an epiphany with a piece of gum; seeing the half-chewed gum she was fiddling looked something like a human face caused her to become interested in three-dimensional representations of the human form. She began to construct dolls from flour and newspaper paste, using chopsticks as a structural base.
