Horacio Hidrovo Peñaherrera
Horacio Hidrovo Peñaherrera (June 24, 1931 – June 9, 2012) was an Ecuadorian poet, writer, professor, and cultural promoter. He inherited his passion for poetry from his father, the poet Horacio Hidrovo Velásquez. In 2009 he was awarded Ecuador's National Prize "Premio Eugenio Espejo The ''Premio Nacional Eugenio Espejo'' ("Eugenio Espejo National Award") is the national prize of the nation of Ecuador. Decrees 677 and 699 (of August 1975 and September 1997, respectively) established the prize, which is conferred by the President ..." in the Cultural Activities category. Horacio Hidrovo Velásquez ( Santa Ana, May 20, 1902 - Portoviejo, April 19, 1962) was an Ecuadorian poet, novelist, and short story writer. In 1957 he was the President of the House of Ecuadorian Culture La Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana (''The House of Ecuadorian Culture'') is a cultural organization founded by BenjamÃn Carrión on August 9, 1944, during the presidency of Dr Jose Maria Velasco Ibarra. The ''Premio Nacional Eugenio Espejo'' ("Eugenio Espejo National Award") is the national prize of the nation of Ecuador.
