The Horace Hearne Jr. Institute for Theoretical Physics is at Louisiana State University. The Hearne Institute is funded by a donation of two endowed chairs by Horace Hearne Jr. and the State of Louisiana, as well as additional grants from a variety of national and international granting agencies.. James Sauls
James Avery Sauls is an American physicist. Sauls studied physics at the Colorado School of Mines, graduating in 1975, and pursued a doctorate in the subject at Stony Brook University, which he completed in 1980. Sauls began his academic career at Princeton University, as research associate, instructor, then assistant professor of physics. In 1987, Sauls joined the faculty of Northwestern University as associate professor. He became a full professor in 1991. In 2021, Sauls was appointed the Sarah Rebecca Roland Professor of Physics. In 1998, Sauls was elected a fellow of the American Physical Society, " r contributions to theories of unconventional superfluidity and superconductivity." He shared the 2012 with Chandra M. Jorge Pullin
Jorge Pullin (; born 1963 in Argentina) is an American theoretical physicist known for his work on black hole collisions and quantum gravity. He is the Horace Hearne Chair in theoretical Physics at the Louisiana State University. Biography Jorge Pullin attended the University of Buenos Aires (electrical engineering) for two years before leaving for Instituto Balseiro in Argentina to finish a M.Sc. in Physics (1986). Then he moved to the University of Córdoba to pursue his Ph.D. which was submitted in 1988 to the Instituto Balseiro; his advisor was Reinaldo J. Gleiser. He moved to Syracuse University in 1989 and to the University of Utah in 1991 as a postdoc. He joined the faculty of Penn State University in 1993, where he was promoted to associate professor in 1997 and full professor in 2000. Jonathan Dowling
Jonathan P. Dowling (3 April 1955 – 5 June 2020) was an Irish-American researcher and professor in theoretical physics, known for his work on quantum technology, particularly for exploiting quantum entanglement (in the form of a NOON state) for applications to quantum metrology, quantum sensing, and quantum imaging. Career Dowling obtained a PhD in 1988 from the University of Colorado-Boulder. He worked at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, the United States Army Aviation and Missile Command, the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the Louisiana State University. Dowling was one of the founders of the US Government program in quantum computing and quantum cryptography.
