Alstonefield (alternative spelling: Alstonfield) is a village and civil parish in the Peak District National Park and the Staffordshire Moorlands district of Staffordshire, England about north of Ashbourne, east of Leek and south of Buxton. The parish had a population of 274 according to the 2001 census, increasing to 304 at the 2011 census. The village has two pubs; The George and The Watts Russell Arms. The civil parish also contains the hamlets of Hopedale, Stanshope and Milldale. In Wilson's 1870–1872 '' Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales'', the spellings Allstonefield and Allstonfield were used. Hopedale, Massachusetts
Hopedale is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. It is located 25 miles southwest of Boston, in eastern Massachusetts. With origins as a Christian utopian community, the town was later home to Draper Corporation, a large loom manufacturer throughout the 20th century until its closure in 1980. Today, Hopedale has become a bedroom community for professionals working in Greater Boston and is home to highly ranked public schools. The population was 6,017 as of the 2020 census. History Hopedale was first settled by Europeans in 1660. Benjamin Albee built a mill on what is now the south end of Hopedale in 1664. Hopedale is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the main village in the town of Hopedale, Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 3,753, out of 5,911 in the entire town of Hopedale. It is bordered to the northeast by the town of Milford and to the southwest by the town of Mendon. It is southwest of Boston and southeast of Worcester, and north of Providence, Rhode Island. Hopedale Community
The Hopedale Community was founded in Milford, Massachusetts, in 1843 by Adin Ballou. He and his followers purchased of land on which they built homes for the community members, chapels and the factories for which the company was initially formed. The area was later split from Milford and became the town of Hopedale, Massachusetts. Ballou believed that he could create a utopian community blending the features of a factory town with those of a religion-based commune. He called this "Practical Christianity" but unlike several similar communities, it was important to Ballou that Hopedale would not be isolated from the rest of society. The community stood for temperance, abolitionism, women's rights, spiritualism and education. Fourteen years after the land was purchased, Hopedale went bankrupt.
