Hope Technology
Hope Technology (since 1991, formally IPCO) is a bicycle component manufacturer based in Barnoldswick, Lancashire. Primarily concerned with manufacturing high-quality mountain bike componentry, Hope have branched into accessories such as lights, tools and riding gear. Hope have more recently partnered with Lotus Engineering to developed a track bike, known as 'HB.T' used by Great Britain Cycling Team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. History IPCO 1985–1991 The company, known as IPCO, was started in 1985 by Ian Weatherill and Simon Sharp, former Rolls-Royce aerospace engineers, as a sub-contract manufacturer of fixings and toolings for aerospace companies in the local area. Kaprun
Kaprun () is a municipality in the Zell am See District in the state of Salzburg, Austria. The town is a tourist destination known as "Zell am See-Kaprun" with the neighbouring Zell am See and known for the glacier Kitzsteinhorn. Geography It is located in the Pinzgau region on the northern slopes of the Alpine Glockner Group with Mt. UCI Mountain Bike World Cup
The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is a multi-round mountain bike racing series that is sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale. The first World Cup series – which was composed of cross-country events – was held in 1989. The Downhill World Cup was inaugurated two years later, and the Dual Slalom World Cup was launched in 1998. The dual-slalom format – which involved knock-out heats with two riders on the parallel courses in each heat – evolved into four-cross (with four riders on a single course per heat) in 2002 before being dropped after the 2011 season. Riders win points according to their placing in each event. The reigning series leaders in each class are identified by a special jersey. Rob Warner (mountain Biker)
Rob Warner (born 16 November 1970) is a retired professional downhill mountain biker born in Reading, England. Before turning professional in 1993 Warner worked for 6 months at the Rover plant in Oxford on a production line building the Rover 800 series car. After riding for Saracen with teammate Steve Peat and then MBUK, he signed for the Giant Bicycles Downhill Team, and remained with them until the end of 2016. He then went on to join Commencal Bikes in 2017 in the role of brand ambassador. In 1996 he became the first ever British rider to win a round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup taking a historic win at Kaprun in Austria. Eurobike is an international bicycle trade fair held annually since 1991 in the first week of September, on the grounds of Messe Friedrichshafen, one of the largest and most modern exhibition centres in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. The bike show is open to trade visitors from Wednesday to Friday, and to trade and the general public on Saturday. According to organizers, 43,700 industry visitors from 97 countries and an additional 20,500 bike fans on public day, attended the show in 2012. This also included 1,889 journalists from 42 countries. A hydraulic brake is an arrangement of braking mechanism which uses brake fluid, typically containing glycol ethers or diethylene glycol, to transfer pressure from the controlling mechanism to the braking mechanism. Quick Release Skewer
A quick release skewer is a mechanism for attaching a wheel to a bicycle. It consists of a rod threaded on one end and with a lever operated cam assembly on the other. The rod is inserted into the hollow axle of the wheel, a special nut is threaded on, and the lever is closed to tighten the cam and secure the wheel to the fork. Wheels equipped with quick release mechanisms can be removed from the bicycle frame and replaced without using tools by opening and closing the cam lever, thus more quickly than wheels with solid axles and nuts. On the negative side, a quick-release hub renders a wheel more vulnerable to theft and care must be taken to ensure that the mechanism is properly tightened.
