Matador Records
Matador Records is an independent record label, with a roster of mainly indie rock, but also punk rock, experimental rock, alternative rock, and electronic acts. History Matador was created in 1989 by Chris Lombardi in his New York City apartment. Lombardi had brought the Austrian duo H.P. Zinker into Wharton Tiers’ Fun City studio to record Matador's first release, "...and there was light". Lombardi continued to add artists to the label's roster, with bands like the Dustdevils, Railroad Jerk and Superchunk, before being joined by former Homestead Records manager Gerard Cosloy in 1990. Boc Maxima
''Boc Maxima'' is a limited-release studio album self-released by Boards of Canada on cassette in 1996 via their label Music70. The album preceded their more public releases on Skam and Warp. Many of its tracks were reused on their early EPs and 1998 debut LP ''Music Has the Right to Children''. It was broadcast in full on the radio program ''Disengage'' in 2002, but has never been officially re-released. Background The physical cassette production of the album was limited to 50 copies world-wide, which were handed out to friends and family. All Tomorrow's Parties (music Festival)
All Tomorrow's Parties was an organisation based in London that promoted music festivals, concerts and records throughout the world for over ten years. It was founded by Barry Hogan in 2001 in preparation for the first All Tomorrow's Parties Festival, the line-up of which was picked by Mogwai and took place at Pontins, Camber Sands, England. Named after the song "All Tomorrow's Parties" by the Velvet Underground, the festival exhibited a tendency towards post-rock, indie rock, avant-garde music, and underground hip hop, along with more traditional rock fare presented in smaller venues than typical stadium performances. It was at first a sponsorship-free festival where the organisers and artists stay in the same accommodation as the fans. ''Live @ Warp10'' is a collection of songs recorded during the performance of Scottish electronic music duo Boards of Canada at the Warp Records 10th anniversary party. The performance took place at the Chainstore, Trinity Buoy Wharf, London. The WARP 10th birthday live performances were broadcast live on the internet by Gaia Live (''gaialive.com'') and produced on location by Tim Read. The collection is notable in that it features two songs that had not been heard before; the names of the tracks are still unknown. As a result of its recording process, the collection is not endorsed by Boards of Canada. Also, the track "The Color of the Fire" is not the same as heard on ''Music Has the Right to Children'', it is an entirely different track. It was mislabeled when the MP3's were released and has not been changed since. ''Peel Session'' is an EP by Boards of Canada, featuring the tracks played on their 1998 Peel Session broadcast on BBC Radio 1. It was originally released on 11 January 1999 as a 12" and CD by Warp Records, with catalogue numbers WAP114 and WAP114CD, respectively. The music was written & produced at the band's Hexagon Sun studio in June 1998. The BBC website and the privately released ''Peel Session June 1998'' CD-R on the band's own Music70 label both indicate the recordings for broadcast were made on 16 June 1998 at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios. As with all Peel sessions, four tracks were recorded for it. One of the four, "XYZ", was not included on the 1999 release due to sample licensing issues. Tomorrow's Harvest
''Tomorrow's Harvest'' is the fourth studio album by Scottish electronic music duo Boards of Canada, released on 10 June 2013 by Warp. The duo began composing and recording the album following the release of ''The Campfire Headphase'' in 2005 and the expansion of their studio at Hexagon Sun near the Pentland Hills. They continued recording intermittently until late 2012, when large parts of the album were recorded. Influenced by film soundtracks from the 1970s and 1980s, ''Tomorrow's Harvest'' features a more menacing and foreboding tone than the duo’s previous works, highlighting themes of isolation and decay. The Campfire Headphase
''The Campfire Headphase'' is the third studio album by Boards of Canada. Released by Warp Records in October 2005, the album featured the addition of more organic musical elements, including heavily treated acoustic guitars and more conventional song structures. It received generally positive reviews from critics, and reached number 41 on the UK albums chart. Background The duo began recording sketches for the album as early as 2002, but did not work on the project in earnest until 2004. According to Michael Sandison, in comparison to their previous releases they aimed to "simultaneously shift and reduce the sound palette, making it more like a conventional band gone over the edge."
