Hookworms (band)
Hookworms were an English five-piece neo-psychedelic rock band from Leeds/ Halifax that formed in 2010. Between 2010 and 2018 the band released 3 studio albums and became known for their live shows. Anonymous allegations of abuse by an unnamed woman that were reported by a third party against the band’s singer saw the dissolution of the Hookworms in 2018. Biography Hookworms released their first tape cassette EP on Sun Araw's Sun Ark/Magic Lantern label in August 2011. They were known for their live shows. They released live recordings (including a CD release of their WFMU live session) and several other releases through Gringo Records. In 2013 Hookworms signed with the Domino imprint Weird World; they also joined the Too Pure roster with their single "Radio Tokyo." Hookworm's 2013 LP ''Pearl Mystic'' was widely praised. Hookworms are Gastrointestinal tract, intestinal, Hematophagy, blood-feeding, parasitic Nematode, roundworms that cause types of infection known as helminthiases. Hookworm infection is found in many parts of the world, and is common in areas with poor access to adequate water, sanitation, and hygiene. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. History ''DiS'' began as an email fanzine in 1998 called ''The Last Resort'' but was relaunched by founder and editor Sean Adams as ''Drowned in Sound'' in 2000. The freelance writing team is currently spread across four continents – North America, Asia, Europe and Australasia. The site is mostly based on contributions from unpaid writers and has an integrated forum to allow for discussion and comments on interviews, news and reviews. It also includes a user-rated database of artists and bands as well as details for most live music venues (big and small) in the UK. FatCat Records is an English independent record label based in Brighton. The label's output reaches into many styles including experimental rock, electronica, psychedelic folk, contemporary classical, noise and post-punk. Mazes (band)
Mazes were an English indie rock musical ensemble, band, formed in Manchester in 2009. The band consisted of Jack Cooper (English musician), Jack Cooper on vocals and guitar, Conan Roberts on bass and Neil Robinson on drums. History Mazes was initially a recording project for Blackpool-born singer-songwriter Jack Cooper, following the split of The Beep Seals which he co-fronted with former Alfie (band), Alfie guitarist Ian Smith (and originated as a live backing band for Jim Noir). ''Microshift'' is the third studio album, fourth long play record and final album by British rock band Hookworms. It was released on 2 February 2018 by Domino Recording Company. The album's namesake is an audio plug-in. The record is dedicated to "Archie", the band's former live sound engineer. The album was included in the book ''1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die''. Joanna Gruesome
Joanna Gruesome were a five-piece noise pop band from Cardiff, Wales. The name of the group is a reference to musician Joanna Newsom. They released two albums and a number of singles. History Joanna Gruesome were formed in 2010 in Cardiff. Their debut album received praise from ''Pitchfork'', ''This is fake DIY'', and '' Rough Trade''. Joanna Gruesome were known for their energetic live shows, as well as their forthright feminist and anti-homophobic views. Loop (band)
Loop are an English rock band, formed in 1986 by Robert Hampson in Croydon. The group topped the UK independent charts with their albums ''Fade Out'' (1989) and ''A Gilded Eternity'' (1990). Their dissonant "trance-rock" sound drew on the work of artists like the Stooges, Suicide and Can, and helped to resurrect the concept of space rock in the late 1980s. The group split in 1991, with Hampson going on to form the experimental project Main with guitarist Scott Dawson, and Mackay and Wills forming The Hair and Skin Trading Company.
