Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus have released ten studio albums, thirty-seven singles, two extended plays, six compilation albums and 3 video albums. Formed in January 1981, the band was originally known as Le Hoodoo Gurus for the release of their first single, " Leilani", in October 1982. As Hoodoo Gurus, the band signed with Big Time Records and premiered their debut album, ''Stoneage Romeos'', in March 1984. Also issued in the United States through A&M Records, the record remained atop the Alternative/College Albums Chart for four consecutive weeks, with it also becoming one of the most played albums of that year on the college network. The group's subsequent albums, ''Mars Needs Guitars!'', ''Blow Your Cool!'' and ''Magnum Cum Louder'', all reached the ''Billboard'' 200. Hoodoo Gurus
Hoodoo Gurus are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1981, by the mainstay Dave Faulkner (songwriter, lead singer and guitarist) and later joined by Richard Grossman (bass), Mark Kingsmill (drums), and Brad Shepherd (guitar, vocals, harmonica). Their popularity peaked in the mid- to late 1980s with albums ''Mars Needs Guitars!'', ''Blow Your Cool!'' and ''Magnum Cum Louder''. Hoodoo Gurus had a string of pop-rock singles including " Leilani" (1982), " Tojo" (1983), " My Girl" (1983), "I Want You Back" (1984), " Bittersweet", "Like Wow – Wipeout", and " What's My Scene?". After touring the United States from 1984 onward they gained popularity on the U.S. college rock circuit with the singles "Come Anytime" (1989) reaching no. 1 and "Miss Freelove '69" (1991) reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. Crank (Hoodoo Gurus Album)
''Crank'' is the sixth studio album by Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus. It was released in February 1994 and peaked at number 2 on the ARIA charts. The album was produced by Ed Stasium (Ramones, Living Colour, The Smithereens), who had mixed Hoodoo Gurus previous studio album, '' Kinky'' in 1991. It was the band's first release on Zoo Records. EMI re-released the album on 6 February 2005 with an additional nine bonus tracks, a fold out poster and liner notes by Andy Strachan (The Living End). One of the bonus tracks is "Television Addict" which was originally performed by Perth punk band The Victims in 1977 with Gurus' Dave Faulkner known as Dave Flick. Purity Of Essence (Hoodoo Gurus Album)
''Purity of Essence'' is the ninth studio album by Australian group Hoodoo Gurus. It was released on 12 March 2010 and peaked at No. 16 on the ARIA Charts. The album was co-produced by the band with Charles Fisher, who produced two of the band's previous albums, '' Mars Needs Guitars!'' and '' Blue Cave''. The album was mixed by Ed Stasium, who previously worked with the Hoodoo Gurus on the '' Kinky'' and ''Crank''. Background Hoodoo Gurus were formed in 1981 in Sydney, their eighth studio album, '' Mach Schau'', was released in 2004. ARIA Music Awards Of 2005
The 19th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAS) were held on 23 October 2005 at the Sydney Superdome at the Sydney Olympic Park complex, thus continuing the previous year's innovation of televising the awards on Sunday evening. A varied cast of presenters included Merrick and Rosso (who opened the televised show), stand-up comic Dave Hughes, Gretel Killeen and David Hasselhoff. ''Mach Schau'' is the eighth studio album by the Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus. It was recorded eight years after their previous studio album, '' Blue Cave'', and released by EMI/Capitol Records on 15 March 2004. It was co-produced by the group with Kim Salmon. The album peaked at number 67 on the ARIA Charts. Background and recording In early 2003 the Hoodoo Gurus reunited to record "That's My Team" (a reworked version of "What's My Scene"), which was used as the promotional theme for the National Rugby League between 2003 and 2007. All the profits from the sale of the single, which was released in September 2003, were donated to Breast cancer charities. On 17 November 2003 EMI Records announced Hoodoo Gurus' reformation to record a new album. ''Bite the Bullet'' is a compilation album by Australian rock group Hoodoo Gurus, released in July 1998. Mushroom also released it as a three-CD limited edition set, ''Bite the Bullet – Director's Cut'', consisting of ''Bite the Bullet (Live)'' (a live farewell tour set), ''Doppelgänger: Live-to-Air Broadcasts '83 – '96'' (Triple J Live at the Wireless performances) and ''Bubble & Squeak: Outtakes and Oddities'' (a rarities collection). The 10th Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as the ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAS) was held on 30 September 1996 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. The ARIA Music Award for Best Cover Art, is an award presented within the Artisan Awards at the annual ARIA Music Awards.
