Honored Journalist Of Ukraine
The Honored Journalist (also translated as The Merited Journalist of Ukraine, uk, Заслужений журналіст України) is an honorary title bestowed by Ukraine (before 1991 by the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic or SSR) for "vital contribution" in the country's journalism. The title is awarded by the President of Ukraine and accompanied by a silver badge. History The honorary title was established by the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR on May 7, 1981. By that time, four republics of the former USSR (the Estonian SSR, the Lithuanian SSR, the Georgian SSR, and the Armenian SSR) had already established such an award, whereas the Russian SSR hadn't done so until the dissolution of the Soviet Union. From its inception in 1981, the title required a recipient to have worked in the field of journalism for at least ten years. Honorary titles of Ukraine ( uk, Почесні звання України) are meritorious awards of Ukraine. Most of them are state awards and practically all were transformed from the same titles of the Ukrainian SSR. Types There are several degrees for honorary titles which are also designated for various carrier (industry) fields. The top honorary title of Ukraine is the Hero of Ukraine that is accompanied by either Order of the Gold Star for military recognition and Order of the State for civilian recognition. The more common honorary titles are People's or Merited with People's titles being considered of slightly higher tier over Merited. These titles are accompanied by a respective identification badge, gilded silver - for People's titles and silver - for Merited titles. Merited (Performing) Artist of Ukraine (also translated as Honored (Performing) Artist of Ukraine, uk, Заслужений артист України) is a state honorary title of decoration awarded by the Ukrainian SSR and later Ukraine for outstanding achievement in the performing arts. It is regulated by the ''Law of Ukraine Regarding the State Awards of Ukraine'' (#1549-14). Definition The title is the state award of Ukraine that is given for the personal merit by the State of Ukraine to citizens who have worked in their respective economic or socio-cultural fields as a rule for no less than ten (10) years, obtaining high on-the-job achievements and professional mastery.
