Honor Jackson
Honor W. Jackson (born November 21, 1948) is a former American football defensive back in the National Football League for the New England Patriots and New York Giants. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the ninth round of the 1971 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of the Pacific. Early years Jackson attended Tamalpais High School where he played defensive end. Although he received interest from division I schools, because of grades, he opted to go to College of Marin where he was converted to wide receiver. In 1969, he transferred to the University of the Pacific, lettering in football and track. As a senior, he registered 55 receptions for 931 yards, 5 touchdowns, ranked 12th in the nation in receiving average (16.9 yards) and earned All-PCAA honors. Safety (American And Canadian Football Position)
Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game. Robert Newhouse
Robert Fulton Newhouse (January 9, 1950 – July 22, 2014) was an American professional football player who was a fullback in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys for twelve seasons. He played college football for the Houston Cougars. Early years Though Newhouse had rushing performances of over 200 and 300 yards, he wasn't highly recruited coming out of Galilee High School in Hallsville, Texas, with the only Division I (NCAA) scholarship being offered by the University of Houston. John Mazur
John Edward Mazur (June 17, 1930 – November 1, 2013) was an American gridiron football player and coach. He was played college football as a quarterback at the University of Notre Dame. Mazur served as head coach for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL) from 1970 to 1972. Career Mazur grew up in Plymouth, Pennsylvania where he graduated in Plymouth High School’s class of 1948. His outstanding quarterbacking skills caught the attention of Notre Dame coaches, leading him to play for the Fighting Irish from 1949 to 1951, starting for the 1951 squad that finished 7–2–1. The following year, Mazur went into the Marine Corps, playing quarterback for both the Quantico and Camp Pendleton Marines. Carl Garrett
Carl L. Garrett (August 31, 1947 – August 24, 2020) was an American football running back who began his professional career with the American Football League's Boston Patriots. Carl Garrett caught 29 passes for 267 yards and two touchdowns in 1969, and ran the ball for over five yards per carry with 137 attempts for 691 yards and five touchdowns. He was the 1969 '' Sporting News'' ' AFL Rookie of the Year. He was also selected to the AFL All-Star team in 1969. Garrett was involved in a highly unusual trade just prior to the 1971 season. The Patriots traded Garrett to the Dallas Cowboys for running back Duane Thomas. Shortly after the players reported to their new teams, the trade was rescinded, and Thomas returned to the Cowboys and Garrett to the Patriots. The Cowboys ultimately won the Super Bowl at the end of the 1971 season with Duane Thomas as their leading rusher in the game. Halvor Hagen
Halvor Reini Hagen (born February 4, 1947) is a former American football offensive tackle in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, and Buffalo Bills. He was drafted in the third round of the 1969 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Weber State University. Early years Hagen was born in Oslo, Norway. He played football for only one season at Ballard High School (Seattle, Washington). He then enrolled and played one season of college football at Shoreline Community College, before transferring to Weber State. As a senior in 1968, he received All-Big Sky honors for his play at defensive tackle. During his time in college, he was also an avid skier. Duane Julius Thomas (born June 21, 1947) is a former American football running back in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins. He played college football at West Texas State University. Early years Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Thomas was an exceptional running back at its Lincoln High School in the mid-1960s. He continued his success at West Texas State University in Canyon, playing fullback alongside Mercury Morris, while running through defenses for Joe Kerbel's teams. Super Bowl VI was an American football game between the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Dallas Cowboys and the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Miami Dolphins to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 1971 season. The Cowboys defeated the Dolphins by the score of 24–3, to win their first Super Bowl.
