Hong Kong Cyclothon
Hong Kong Cyclothon, sponsored by Sun Hung Kai Properties was held from 10 to 11 October 2015. It was the first time that the Hong Kong Tourism Board organised a mega event related to bicycles. Different competitions within the cyclothon were held to allow participants of different age groups to join. Also, a carnival associated with bicycles was set up. The cyclothon attracted over 3,600 participants, including 100 cyclists coming from 17 countries. The Hong Kong Tourism Board hopes to organise the ''Hong Kong Cyclothon'' again. Background The Hong Kong Tourism Board, having the duty to promote Hong Kong as a travel destination worldwide and to enhance visitors' experience, would like to organise mega events as a means to make the brand names in Hong Kong internationally recognised. Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP; ) is a listed corporation and the largest property developer in Hong Kong as of 2019. Hong Kong Cultural Centre
The Hong Kong Cultural Centre () is a multipurpose performance facility in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. Located at Salisbury Road, it was built by the former Urban Council and, since 2000, has been administered by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. A wide variety of cultural performances are held here. Lantau Link
The Lantau Link, formerly known as the Lantau Fixed Crossing, is a roadway in Hong Kong forming part of Route 8 linking Lantau Island to Tsing Yi, from which other roads lead to the urban areas of Kowloon and the rest of the New Territories. Part of the Airport Core Programme centred on the new Hong Kong International Airport on Lantau, the link was officially opened on 27 April 1997, and it opened to traffic on 22 May the same year. New Territories
The New Territories is one of the three main regions of Hong Kong, alongside Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula. It makes up 86.2% of Hong Kong's territory, and contains around half of the population of Hong Kong. Historically, it is the region described in the Convention for the Extension of Hong Kong Territory. According to that treaty, the territories comprise the mainland area north of Boundary Street on the Kowloon Peninsula and south of the Sham Chun River (which is the border between Hong Kong and Mainland China), as well as over 200 outlying islands, including Lantau Island, Lamma Island, Cheung Chau, and Peng Chau in the territory of HK. West Kowloon
West Kowloon () is the western part of Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong, situated within the Yau Tsim Mong District and Sham Shui Po District. It is bounded by Canton Road to the east, Victoria Harbour to the west and the south, and Jordan Road to the north. Further to the north, the area extends to Tai Kok Tsui to the west of the West Kowloon Highway. Nam Cheong, Olympic, Austin and Kowloon stations are within the area. It is principally a stretch of reclaimed land, which was subsequently developed in the late 20th century. Nam Cheong Station
Nam Cheong is a MTR interchange station located at ground level beneath West Kowloon Highway, in Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong opposite the Fu Cheong Estate. It is served by the Tung Chung and Tuen Ma lines and provides cross-platform interchange between platform 1 (Tuen Ma line towards Tuen Mun) and platform 4 (Tung Chung line towards Hong Kong). The livery of Nam Cheong station is pale yellow green. Nam Cheong station was originally the southern terminus of the West Rail line before the opening of Kowloon Southern Link on 16 August 2009. Mody Road
Mody Road () is a street in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Location Mody Road starts at Nathan Road to the west, crosses Chatham Road South and ends at Science Museum Road to the northeast. History The road was built in 1887 as an unnamed path linking Nathan Road and Chatham Road, about the site of the former Tsim Sha Tsui Bay. In March 1909, the road was given its current name in honour of Sir Hormusjee Naorojee Mody, a successful Parsi businessman in Hong Kong for his support in founding the Hong Kong University, along his other contributions to Hong Kong. In the 1970s, Tsim Sha Tsui East was built on reclaimed land over Hung Hom Bay. Tsim Sha Tsui, often abbreviated as TST, is an list of areas of Hong Kong, urban area in southern Kowloon, Hong Kong. The area is administratively part of the Yau Tsim Mong District.
