Hong Kong Community Cup (), formerly known as Hong Kong Community Shield (), is the football super cup competition in Hong Kong played between the winners of the Hong Kong Premier League (previously the Hong Kong First Division League) and the Hong Kong FA Cup (previously the Hong Kong Season Play-offs). 2009 Hong Kong Community Shield
2009 Hong Kong Community Shield was the first edition of the Hong Kong Community Shield. The game was a football match between the winners and the runners-up of the previous season's Hong Kong First Division League. The match was played in Hong Kong Stadium, on 17 August 2009. The two opposing teams were 2008–09 Hong Kong First Division League winners South China and runners-up Kitchee. Because of Typhoon Morakot, which was currently affecting Taiwan, a part of the ticket revenue was donated to two charities, the Hong Kong Red Cross and United Christian Hospital. The game was won by Kitchee with a 2–0 victory over South China. The game's two goals were made by Spanish player Albert Virgili and Equatoguinean player Baruc Nsue. Tai Po Football Club (), also known as Wofoo Tai Po due to sponsorship reasons, is a Hong Kong professional football club which currently competes in the Hong Kong Premier League. In the 2018–19 season, Tai Po successfully won their first top-flight title in club history. Penalty Shootout (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Kitchee Sports Club (; ; ) is a Hong Kong professional Association football, football club based in Kowloon. It was founded in 1931 and currently competes in the Hong Kong Premier League. The club has won championships in Hong Kong 11 times, including 6 Hong Kong First Division titles and 5 Hong Kong Premier League titles. Hong Kong FA Cup () is a knockout cup competition in Hong Kong football, run by and named after The Hong Kong Football Association. The first edition of the competition was held in 1975, before then the cup was known as the Golden Jubilee Cup. The current season is the 45th edition of the event. 14 different teams have won the cup with 10-time champions South China being the most successful. In the first three years, the semi-finals and the finals were two-legged events. If the aggregate result was drawn, there would be extra time after the second leg. Drawn ties after extra time would be settled by a replay. However, this practice was abandoned in 1977.
