''Honeymoon Deferred'' is a 1940 American mystery film directed by Lew Landers and written by Roy Chanslor and Eliot Gibbons. The film stars Edmund Lowe, Margaret Lindsay, Elisabeth Risdon, Chick Chandler, Joyce Compton, Cliff Clark and Anne Gwynne. The film was released on February 16, 1940, by Universal Pictures. Plot Detective Adam Farradene and his wife Janet Farradene have to postpone their honeymoon, because Adam has to investigate a murder. Janet gets really angry but wants to help out, despite Adam's insistence on working alone. Lew Landers
Lew Landers (born Louis Friedlander, January 2, 1901 – December 16, 1962) was an American independent film and television director. Biography Born as Louis Friedlander in New York City, Lew Landers began his movie career as an actor. In 1914, he appeared in two features: D.W. Griffith's drama ''The Escape (1914 film), The Escape'' and the comedy short ''Admission – Two Pins'', under his birth name. He became an assistant director at Universal Pictures in 1922. He began making films in the 1930s, one of his early ones being the Boris Karloff / Bela Lugosi thriller ''The Raven (1935 film), The Raven'' (1935). After directing a few more features, he changed his name to Lew Landers and directed more than 100 films in a variety of genres, including Westerns, comedies, and horror movies. Julie Stevens (American Radio Actress)
Julie Stevens (born Harriet Foote, November 23, 1916 - August 26, 1984) was an American actress who performed on radio, television, the stage, and in movies. She is best known for her 16-year run as the title character in ''The Romance of Helen Trent'' on radio. Early years Born in St. Louis, Missouri, as Harriet Foote, Stevens attended Christian College. When she was 13, Stevens danced in a musical production of Provincetown's Wharf Theater. She later acted with the St. Louis Little Theater. She also acted in Shakespearean productions at the San Diego Globe Theatre and was an actress with the Pasadena Playhouse. Despite that experience, Stevens was unable to land an acting job in New York, which led her to work as an usher at the Empire Theatre until an opportunity arose. Edmund Dantes Lowe (March 3, 1890 – April 21, 1971) was an American actor. His formative experience began in vaudeville and silent film. Biography Lowe was born in San Jose, California. His father was a local judge. His childhood home was at 314 North 1st Street, San Jose. He attended Santa Clara College and entertained the idea of becoming a priest before starting his acting career. He died in Woodland Hills, California, of lung cancer and is buried at San Fernando Mission Cemetery, Mission Hills, California. Film career Lowe's career included over 100 films.
