Māori Language
Māori (), or ('the Māori language'), also known as ('the language'), is an Eastern Polynesian language spoken by the Māori people, the indigenous population of mainland New Zealand. Closely related to Cook Islands Māori, Tuamotuan, and Tahitian, it gained recognition as one of New Zealand's official languages in 1987. The number of speakers of the language has declined sharply since 1945, but a Māori-language revitalisation effort has slowed the decline. Hone Harawira
Hone Pani Tamati Waka Nene Harawira is a New Zealand Māori activist and former parliamentarian. He was elected to parliament as the member for the Māori electorate of Te Tai Tokerau in 2005 as the Māori Party candidate. In 2011, following a rift with party colleagues, Harawira resigned from the Māori Party. He subsequently announced the formation of the Mana Party, and then resigned from parliament to trigger the Te Tai Tokerau by-election, which he won as leader of the new party. Mana, now the Mana Movement, campaigned alongside the Internet Party in the 2014 general election, but failed to return Harawira or the party to parliament. He also stood unsuccessfully in 2017. William Hone (9 May 1842 – 20 March 1919) was an Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman, he played eleven times for the Ireland cricket team between 1861 and 1878 and also played nine first-class matches, mostly for the MCC. Playing career Hone made his debut for Ireland in September 1861, playing against I Zingari. He played against the Irish military the following month, against the MCC in May 1862 and against I Zingari in September 1863, before beginning his first-class career. William Patrick Hone (28 August 1886 – 28 February 1976) was an Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper, he played six times for the Ireland cricket team between 1909 and 1928, all of which were first-class matches. Biography The son of William Hone, himself an Irish international cricketer, Pat Hone was born in Monkstown, County Dublin in August 1886. He was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire in England before attending Dublin University for four years from 1907, where he captained their cricket team for two years. Nathaniel Hone (cricketer, Born 1861)
Nathaniel Thomas Hone (21 June 1861 in Monkstown, County Dublin, Ireland – 1 August 1881 in Limerick, Ireland) was an Irish cricketer who played first-class cricket for Cambridge University. Born in Monkstown, County Dublin and educated in Dublin and at Rugby where he was an excellent horse rider and polo player, he went on to attend Trinity Hall, Cambridge. Nathaniel Hone The Younger
Nathaniel Hone the Younger (26 October 1831 – 14 October 1917) was an Irish painter, the great-grand-nephew of the painter Nathaniel Hone. Life and career Hone studied at Trinity College Dublin. He began his career as a railway engineer but gave this up to study art in Paris. Most of his later paintings are landscapes, very often enlivened with animals and occasionally with figures. He was a member of the Hone family. In France he was influenced by the painter Gustave Courbet who was taking a new and quite revolutionary realistic approach. His closest painting tips were, however, from another French impressionist, Camille Corot. Hone became a close friend of one of Corot's followers at the Barbizon School of landscape painting.
