Homotopy To Marie
''Homotopy to Marie'' is the fifth album by Nurse with Wound, released in 1982. Although Nurse with Wound had generated considerable interest across their preceding releases, Steven Stapleton has asserted to author David Keenan that ''Homotopy to Marie'' should be considered the first "real" NWW album. In Keenan's book ''England's Hidden Reverse'', Stapleton states that this was the first album he made without intervention, the original trio line-up having dispersed in 1980. Although J. G. Thirlwell participated in some of the sessions and is thanked on the album's sleeve, this is effectively a Steven Stapleton solo album and he would retain sole curatorship of NWW from this point onwards. ''Les Chants de Maldoror'' (''The Songs of Maldoror'') is a French poetic novel, or a long prose poem. It was written and published between 1868 and 1869 by the Comte de Lautréamont, the ''nom de plume'' of the Uruguayan-born French writer Isidore Lucien Ducasse. The work concerns the misanthropic, misotheistic character of Maldoror, a figure of evil who has renounced conventional morality. Although obscure at the time of its initial publication, ''Maldoror'' was rediscovered and championed by the Surrealist artists during the early twentieth century. Comte de Lautréamont () was the ''nom de plume'' of Isidore Lucien Ducasse (4 April 1846 – 24 November 1870), a French poet born in Uruguay. His only works, ''Les Chants de Maldoror'' and ''Poésies'', had a major influence on modern arts and literature, particularly on the Surrealists and the Situationists. Ducasse died at the age of 24. Biography Youth Ducasse was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, to François Ducasse, a French consular officer, and his wife Jacquette-Célestine Davezac. Very little is known about Isidore's childhood, except that he was baptized on 16 November 1847 in the Montevideo Metropolitan Cathedral and that his mother died soon afterwards, possibly due to an epidemic. Franz Kamin (May 25, 1941 – April 11, 2010) was an American author, composer, poet, performance-installation artist, and pianist whose works explore structural principles derived from topology, general systems theory, Prosody (linguistics), prosody, and meditational processes in unusual combinations of genre and technique.
