Homeward Bound (New Zealand TV Series)
''Homeward Bound'' was a New Zealand television soap opera. It was first broadcast on TV3 on 11 June 1992 and ran for 21 episodes (including the two-hour pilot), finishing on 29 October 1992. Created by Ross Jennings, ''Homeward Bound'' was TV3's bid for NZ On Air funding for a local soap opera, however, it ultimately lost out to TVNZ's ''Shortland Street'' and was reformatted as an hour-long drama series. Series overview Plots centered on the domestic and professional lives of the extended Johnstone family and the residents of Riverside, a fictional rural community just south of the Bombay Hills. A soap opera, or ''soap'' for short, is a typically long-running radio or television serial, frequently characterized by melodrama, ensemble casts, and sentimentality. Frank Whitten
Frank Edgar Richard Whitten (15 November 1942 – 12 February 2011) was a New Zealand television actor. He was more recently known for playing Ted "Grandpa" West in the New Zealand television show '' Outrageous Fortune''.Megahey, LeslieEsteemed drama teacher and actor who was prominent in radical theatre ''The Age'', 11 April 2011. Early life and education Whitten was born in Te Aroha and grew up in the Waikato region in the 1940s and 50s. Freeview is the brand name of the digital terrestrial television platform in Australia intended to bring all of free-to-air (FTA) broadcasters onto a consistent marketing platform, to compete against subscription television, in particular Foxtel. The strategy coincided with the expansion to 3 digital channels for each FTA network and the planned phasing out of analog television in Australia. Alistair Browning
Alistair Browning (8 February 1954 – 2 June 2019) was a New Zealand actor who won several awards for his work in film, television and theatre, best known for his roles in ''Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence'', ''The Lord of the Rings'', ''Rain'', ''Futile Attraction'', ''Siege'', and ''Power Rangers Dino Super Charge''.
