Homer (village), New York
Homer is a village in Cortland County, New York, United States. The population was 3,291 at the 2010 census. The village name is derived from the surrounding town, which was named after the poet Homer. The village of Homer lies mostly within the town of Homer, except for a small section on the south side which is in the town of Cortlandville. Homer is north of the city of Cortland. History Homer is in the former Central New York Military Tract and was within a Military Tract township which was assigned the name "Homer" by a clerk. Amos Todd, his sister Rhoda Beebe, and her husband Joseph Beebe founded the community in 1791. The village was incorporated in 1835. Homer (; grc, Ὅμηρος , ''Hómēros'') (born ) was a Greek poet who is credited as the author of the ''Iliad'' and the ''Odyssey'', two epic poems that are foundational works of ancient Greek literature. Homer is considered one of the most revered and influential authors in history. Tully (village), New York
Tully is a village in Onondaga County, New York, United States. The population was 873 at the 2010 census. The name of the village is derived from the Roman orator Marcus Tullius Cicero. The village of Tully is in the southeast part of the town of Tully and is south of Syracuse. History The village was in the former Central New York Military Tract. The community was first settled by outsiders ''circa'' 1795. The village was incorporated in 1875. Geography Tully is located at (42.797655, -76.106434). New York State Route 90
New York State Route 90 (NY 90) is a north–south state highway in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. All but five of the route's are located in Cayuga County, with the remaining situated in Cortland County. The southern terminus of the route is at an intersection with U.S. Route 11 (US 11) and NY 41 in the village of Homer. Its northern terminus is at a junction with NY 31 in the town of Montezuma. Although the route is signed as north–south, the portion of NY 90 from King Ferry to Homer follows an east–west alignment. New York State Route 41 (NY 41) is a north–south state highway in Central New York in the United States. The southern terminus of the route is at an interchange with NY 17 (Future Interstate 86) in the town of Sanford in Broome County, New York. US Post Office-Homer is a historic post office building located at Homer in Cortland County, New York. It was built in 1937-1938 and is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department, Louis A. Simon. It is a one-story, steel frame, five bay rectangular building clad in brick on a stucco clad foundation in the Colonial Revival style. Old Homer Village Historic District is a national historic district located at Homer in Cortland County, New York. The district includes the historic core of the village of Homer centered on the village green. It includes a mix of residential, commercial, civic, and religious structures. Residences are primarily 2-story frame structures and commercial structures are 2- and 3-story structures constructed of brick.
