Mahlon Hamilton
Mahlon Preston Hamilton, Jr. (June 15, 1880 – June 20, 1960), was an American stage and screen actor. He was the son of a bartender born in Baltimore, Maryland, the eldest of four children, with the rest of the siblings being girls. Census records indicate his mother died sometime around 1899. Hamilton served with the Maryland National Guard and attended the Maryland Agricultural College (today the University of Maryland, College Park) before turning to acting. From 1908 through 1914, Hamilton appeared in such plays as ''The Great Question'', ''Israel'', ''When Claudia Smiles'', ''The Chaperon'', and ''Overnight''. He began his film career during the silent era, appearing in more than 90 films between 1914 and 1950. Personal life and death Hamilton married Aleta Farnum in 1918; the marriage ended in divorce in 1925. Vola Vale
Vola Vale (born Vola Smith; February 12, 1897 – October 17, 1970) was a silent film actress. Early career Vale was born in Buffalo, New York and educated in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Her high school friends in Rochester, New York, where she was raised, knew her as Vola Smith. She began her career in amateur theatricals in Rochester. Then she played in stock companies for a while. After working under Bert Lytell on stage, in 1916 Vale began working in film for Biograph, under the tutelage of the film director D.W. Griffith. After a month of playing ''atmosphere parts'', Vola was offered a genuine role. She wore a velvet gown with a train and a feathered hat. Soon she was appearing in short reel films for Biograph. Among the actors she was cast with were William S. Hart, Sessue Hayakawa, Tsuru Aoki, William Haines, Harry Carey, Tully Marshall and William Russell. Pathé Exchange, commonly known as Pathé, was an American film production and distribution company, largely of Hollywood's silent era. Known for its groundbreaking newsreel and wide array of shorts, it grew out of the American division of the major French studio Pathé Frères, which began distributing films in the United States in 1904. Ten years later, it produced the enormously succeesful '' The Perils of Pauline'', a twenty-episode serial that came to define the genre. The American operation was incorporated as Pathé Exchange toward the end of 1914 and spun off as an independent entity in 1921; the Merrill Lynch investment firm acquired a controlling stake. The following year, it released Robert J. Flaherty's influential documentary ''Nanook of the North''. Hugh Allan (born Allan Abram Hughes; November 5, 1903 - February 12, 1997) was an American actor. He had several lead roles. He was born Allan Abram Hughes in Oakland, California. Allan married Lou Williamson. He died in Memphis in 1997. He is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis.
