Home Normal
Home Normal is a Tokyo based record label founded in December 2008 and launched in March 2009. The label was curated by Ian Hawgood, co-run with Ben Jones, with design assistance from Jeremy Bible and Christian Roth until 2016. Based exclusively in Tokyo, Home Normal is on hiatus until re-opening at the end of 2020 when it will be run by a group of friends based in Japan. The label specializes in minimal music, with their releases branching between post-classical, experimental ambient, drone and electronica. They've released over 100 albums to date. Ambient Music
Ambient music is a genre of music that emphasizes tone and atmosphere over traditional musical structure or rhythm. Greg Davis (musician)
Gregory Tyler Davis is an American electronic musician who has recorded albums drawing from a wide variety of sources, including guitar, field recording, various world/ethnic/traditional instruments, percussion, and voice, all processed through digital manipulation. After years of experience in hip-hop groups, jazz combos, free improvisation, and experimental composition, Davis moved toward computer-based music in 1997. At Depaul University in Chicago, he studied classical and jazz guitar alongside composition and jazz studies. In 1997, he started his own label, Autumn Records, to release his own music and the music of others. Davis moved to Boston in 1999 to pursue a master's degree in composition (which he received in June 2001) while independently immersing himself in the study of electronic music. Chihei Hatakeyama
is an electronic music artist from Tokyo, Japan. He grew up in the suburbs of Fujisawa. He released his first full-length album, ''Minima Moralia'' on Kranky in 2006. He is the owner of the record label White Paddy Mountain which he launched in 2010. Hatakeyama's music is characteristically very slow, composed by repeatedly processing guitars, pianos, and vibraphones on a laptop. The result is a mix of droning chords and sparse single instruments rising above the mix. His music may be classified as either ambient music, experimental music or new-age music. Chihei Hatakeyama has released over 70 albums as of 2020. Giulio Aldinucci
Giulio Aldinucci (born in 1981 in Siena) is an Italian composer. He has been active for years in the field of experimental electroacoustic music and in the research on soundscape. He composed eight albums released by the labels Karlrecords (D), 99chants (D), Home Normal (UK/J), Time Released Sound (USA), Dronarivm (RUS) and Nomadic Kids Republic (UK/J). Furthermore, he made six EPs and seven collaborative albums with Enrico Coniglio, The Star Pillow, Ian Hawgood, Francis M. Gri, Francesco Giannico and Pleq published by Midira (D), Home Normal (UK/J), KrysaliSound (I), Dronarivm (RUS) and Eilean (F).
