''Home Alone'' is a series of American Christmas family comedy films originally created by John Hughes, and directed by Chris Columbus ( 1– 2), Raja Gosnell ( 3), Rod Daniel ( 4), Peter Hewitt ( 5), and Dan Mazer ( 6). The films revolve around the adventures surrounding children who find themselves alone during the holiday season and are faced with the challenge of defending their family's house or themselves from invading burglars and criminals. The first three films were released theatrically by 20th Century Fox, while the following two made-for-television films were produced by Fox Television Studios, aired on the Disney-owned ABC channel (American Broadcasting Company). Following the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney, a sixth film in the franchise was produced by the newly renamed 20th Century Studios for the Disney-owned streaming service Disney+. John Wilden Hughes Jr. (February 18, 1950 – August 6, 2009) was an American filmmaker. Hughes began his career in 1970 as an author of humorous essays and stories for the '' National Lampoon'' magazine. Raja Gosnell
Raja Raymond Gosnell (born December 9, 1958) is an American filmmaker and editor. He is best known for directing comedies including ''Never Been Kissed'', ''Big Momma's House'', and ''Scooby-Doo''. As well as family films including ''Home Alone 3'' and '' Yours, Mine & Ours'' Early life Gosnell is named after his father's friend Raja Mohideen. He was born in Los Angeles, California on December 9, 1958. Career Gosnell's career started in 1980 when he worked with director Robert Altman as an assistant editor on ''Popeye''. Augustine Frizzell (born July 27, 1979) is an American actress, film director, and screenwriter. She made her feature film directorial debut with ''Never Goin' Back'' (2018).
