Homburg Railway
The Homburg Railway (german: Homburger Bahn ) is an 18 km line from Frankfurt am Main to Bad Homburg in the German state of Hesse. It was opened in 1860 as one of the first railway lines in Germany. It is now part of the Rhine-Main S-Bahn line S5 to Friedrichsdorf. History Early on, there was support in Homburg for an efficient transport connection from Frankfurt in order to increase patronage to its spa and casino. In 1850 a horse-drawn omnibus provided an hourly service from Frankfurt to Homburg, but this soon was not enough to meet the needs of travellers. Projects to build railways failed in 1836, 1845, 1851 and 1856, caused by funding problems and the number of small states that the line would have to run through: the line as built was only 18 km long but it ran across the territories of four independent countries: the Free City of Frankfurt, the Grand Duchy of Hesse (Darmstadt), the Duchy of Nassau and the Landgraviate of Hesse-Homburg. DBAG Class 423
The Deutsche Bahn Class 423 EMU is a light-weight articulated electric railcar for S-Bahn commuter networks in Germany. The train has similar dimensions to its predecessor, the Class 420 EMU, but is significantly lighter and has one large passenger compartment, while that of the 420 is divided into three parts. The 423 additionally has six doors in each carriage (three on each side), which is down from eight on the 420 (four on each side). They are numbered from 423 001 to 423 462. Both Munich and Frankfurt ordered Class 423s for their S-Bahn systems; they were delivered between 1999 and 2004. The Main-Lahn railway (german: Main-Lahn-Bahn), also called the Limburg railway (''Limburger Bahn''), is a double-track, electrified main railway line in Germany. The long line extends from Frankfurt Central Station (''Hauptbahnhof'') to Eschhofen, a borough of Limburg an der Lahn. From Frankfurt to Niedernhausen, it operates as Rhine-Main S-Bahn S-2 and carries Deutsche Bahn route number 645.2. From Frankfurt Central Station to Frankfurt-Höchst, it also carries S-Bahn S-1 (which then follows the Taunus railway to Wiesbaden). Oberursel (Taunus) station is a station on Rhine-Main S-Bahn, S-Bahn S5 (Rhine-Main S-Bahn), line S5 in Oberursel (Taunus), near Frankfurt am Main, Germany on the Homburg Railway, Homburg line. The former ''Mountain Railway'' (german: Gebirgsbahn) ran from the station to Hohemark; it is now part of Frankfurt U-Bahn, U-Bahn line U3. Bundesautobahn 66
is an autobahn in southwestern Germany. It connects the Taunus to Fulda, passing close to Frankfurt am Main. The first part of the autobahn between Wiesbaden and the Nordwestkreuz Frankfurt, was opened as early as 1934, then called the ''Rhein-Main-Schnellweg''. It became an autobahn in 1965. The autobahn is incomplete; there still is a gap within Frankfurt city borders. A tunnel was proposed as a solution; however, this has not been implemented because of the high cost of construction. A new section of roadway to close a second gap southwest of Fulda was opened to traffic on 13 September 2014. The section includes a cut-and-cover tunnel and replaces a diversion which saw traffic routed onto the B 40 for approximately 9 kilometers before rejoining the A 66 just prior to the junction with the A 7; the new segment cost 154 million euros. The Kronberg Railway (german: Kronberger Bahn) is now the northern part of Rhine-Main S-Bahn, Frankfurt S-Bahn S4 (Rhine-Main S-Bahn), line S4, which connects Langen, Hesse, Langen, Frankfurt am Main and Kronberg im Taunusin Hesse, Germany. Frankfurt-Rödelheim Station
Frankfurt-Rödelheim station is a regional and S-Bahn station in western Frankfurt am Main, Germany on the Homburg line, in the district of Rödelheim. Frankfurt am Main Messe station (german: link=no, Bahnhof Frankfurt am Main Messe) is an S-Bahn station in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, in the district of Bockenheim in the middle of the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds. The station was opened in 1999 to improve the fair's public transport connections. It consists of two platform tracks facing a central platform.
