Homalin
Homalin or Hommalinn ( my, ဟုမ္မလင်း မြို့ ) (Shan: ႁုင်းမၢၵ်ႇလၢင်း) is a small town in north-western Burma and capital of the Homalin Township in Hkamti District of the Sagaing Region. The town lies on the Chindwin River and is served by Homalin Airport. The Tamanthi Wildlife Reserve extends into the Homalin Township. Gold has been found in the river sand of Uyu River and extraction has been undertaken jointly with the Russians. History The 1908 ''Imperial Gazetteer of India'' recorded that the steamers of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company plied weekly between Pakokku and Homalin. Government of Myanmar also plied its launches on this route. During World War II, Homalin on the bank of the Chindwin River, was occupied by the Japanese in late May/early June 1944. Tamanthi Wildlife Reserve
Htamanthi Wildlife Sanctuary is a large protected area in northern Myanmar. It was established in 1974 in the Sagaing Region. It is located between the Chindwin River in Hkamti District and the Uyu River, with of the area in Homalin Township, and in Hkamti Township. Biodiversity Htamanthi Wildlife Sanctuary provides habitat for over 30 mammals including Asian elephant (''Elephas maximus''), gaur (''Bos gaurus''), mainland serow (''Capricornis milneedwardsii''), Asiatic black bear (''Ursus thibetanus'') and Indochinese leopard (''Panthera pardus delacouri''). Naga People
Nagas are various ethnic groups native to northeastern India and northwestern Myanmar. The groups have similar cultures and traditions, and form the majority of population in the Indian states of Nagaland and Manipur and Naga Self-Administered Zone of Myanmar; with significant populations in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in India; Sagaing Region and Kachin State in Myanmar (Burma). The Nagas are divided into various Naga ethnic groups whose numbers and population are unclear. William Stevenson Meyer
Sir William Stevenson Meyer (13 February 1860 – 19 October 1922) was an Indian Civil Service officer. From 1920 until his death two years later, he served as the first High Commissioner for India. Biography Meyer was born to a Presbyterian minister, Theodore Jonah Meyer, and his wife Jane Ann. His younger sister was the mathematician Margaret Meyer. He attended University College School and University College London, before entering the Indian Civil Service in 1881. Meyer was assigned to the Madras Presidency as an assistant secretary, where he rose to become Chief Secretary of the Board of Revenue in 1890. Pakokku ( my, ပခုက္ကူမြို့, ) is the largest city in the Magway Region of Myanmar. It is situated about 30 km north-east of Bagan on the Irrawaddy River.
