Paul Sérusier
Paul Sérusier (9 November 1864 – 7 October 1927) was a French painter who was a pioneer of abstract art and an inspiration for the avant-garde Nabis movement, Synthetism and Cloisonnism. Education Sérusier was born in Paris. He studied at the Académie Julian and was a monitor there in the mid-1880s. In the summer of 1888 he travelled to Pont-Aven and joined the small group of artists centered there around Paul Gauguin. While at the Pont-Aven artist's colony he painted a picture that became known as '' The Talisman'', under the close supervision of Gauguin. The picture was an extreme exercise in Cloisonnism that approximated to pure abstraction. He was a Post-Impressionist painter, a part of the group of painters called Les Nabis. Sérusier, along with Paul Gauguin, named the group. Henri Fantin-Latour (14 January 1836 – 25 August 1904) was a French painter and lithography, lithographer best known for his flower paintings and group portraits of Parisian artists and writers. Biography He was born Ignace Henri Jean Théodore Fantin-Latour in Grenoble, Isère. As a youth, he received drawing lessons from his father, who was an artist.Poulet & Murphy 1979, p. 73. In 1850 he entered the Ecole de Dessin, where he studied with Horace Lecoq de Boisbaudran, Lecoq de Boisbaudran. Description Its staging evokes the studio of French painter Édouard Manet and represents him seated and painting. Seated beside him is Zacharie Astruc. The other figures from left to right are painters Otto Scholderer, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, writer Émile Zola (bearded with eyeglasses in his hand), Edmond Maître, Frédéric Bazille (in profile), and Claude Monet. Pierre Bonnard
Pierre Bonnard (; 3 October 186723 January 1947) was a French painter, illustrator and printmaker, known especially for the stylized decorative qualities of his paintings and his bold use of color.
