Holy Trinity Catholic Schools is a PK-12 Roman Catholic school headquartered in Fort Madison, Iowa, with campuses in Fort Madison and West Point. Fort Madison has the secondary school campus and one early childhood campus, while West Point has the elementary school and an early childhood center on another campus. The school system is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport. History Holy Trinity Catholic School was created in July 2005 with the merging of the Marquette Catholic School System from the West Point Area and the Aquinas Catholic Schools from the Fort Madison Area. The Marquette building was chosen for junior high school while the Aquinas building was chosen for senior high school. At the time 131 students were at the secondary level in Aquinas. The merger was due to increasing costs and the declining population of Lee County, the latter of which meant reduced numbers of pupils. Keokuk Catholic Schools, also operating as St. Vincent's Elementary School is a Catholic School in Keokuk, Iowa. It was established circa 1853. It previously consisted of two separate campuses, one being St. Vincent's School and one being Cardinal Stritch High School. The high school merged into Holy Trinity Catholic Schools of Fort Madison, Iowa Fort Madison is a city and a county seat of Lee County, Iowa, United States along with Keokuk. Of Iowa's 99 counties, Lee County is the only one with two county seats. The population was 10,270 at the time of the 2020 census. ''The Hawk Eye'' is a general-circulation newspaper based in Burlington, Iowa, United States, and boasts itself as "''Iowa's Oldest Newspaper''." History The newspaper traces its roots to the ''Wisconsin Territorial Gazette and Burlington Advertiser'', which was established July 10, 1837, by James Clarke and Cyrus Jacobs. Clarke and Jacobs moved to Burlington from Belmont, Wisconsin, when the capital of the Wisconsin Territory was moved to Burlington. The pair did printing work for the territorial government, and were aligned with the Democratic Party. In 1838, a separate Iowa Territory was created, and Burlington was named its first capital.
