Holy Family Hospital is a Roman Catholic hospital was founded by Medical Mission Sisters in 1942. It is located in Bandra, Mumbai on Hill Road. The hospital has 268 beds, and is administered by The Bandra Holy Family Hospital Society, a non-proft charitable trust. Holy Family Hospital is Mumbai's first hospital with a hybrid cath lab and in October 2010, one of the three centres in India with such facilities. History The hospital was established by Dr Austin Da Silva as ''Silverene'', a private 10-bed nursing home. In 1953, it was expanded into a small general hospital with 22 beds and given its current name. Bandra
Bandra (Indian English, [bæːɳɖɾa]) also known as Vandre (Help:IPA/Marathi, [ʋaːn̪d̪ɾe]) is an upscale coastal suburb located in Mumbai (Bombay) area of the Konkan division, Maharashtra, India. The suburb is located to the immediate north of River Mithi, which separates Bandra from Mumbai City district. Originally, Bandra was a larger area, whence the present day Khar, Mumbai, Khar neighbourhood was also a part of it. Almost a century ago, it was considered too large a suburb to be served by one railway station. The Medical Mission Sisters (MMS) is a religious congregation of women in the Roman Catholic Church. It was founded in September 1925 with a goal of providing the poor of the world better access to health care. They were formerly known as the "Society of the Catholic Medical Missions." History The MMS congregation grew out of the experiences of Dr. Anna Dengel, who is originally from Austria. Dr. Dengel has served as a medical missionary to the poor of what was then Northern India (modern-day Pakistan) for several years. Hill Road (officially renamed as Ramdas Nayak Road) is an arterial road in Bandra (West), Mumbai, India. It starts from the intersection of Bandra railway station road and Swami Vivekanand Road (SV Road) and goes west up to Mehboob Studio, leading to the Bandstand Promenade, the Bandra Fort, and Mount Mary Church, Bandra.
