Holsted Tigers
Holsted Speedway Klub or Holsted Tigers is a speedway club from Holsted in Denmark, who compete in the Danish Speedway League. History The club was founded on 5 November 1974 by Kurt Bøgh. The original track was small and caused controversy with the Danish Motor Union over its size. In 1989 the club moved to a new track. The team now runs from the Holsted Speedway Centre. Holsted
Holsted is a railway town located in the Vejen Municipality, in the Region of Southern Denmark. It was previously the seat of the Holsted Municipality. The Danish Speedway League ( da, Dansk Speedway Liga) or Danish Super League or Metal League as it is called today is the top division of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Kurt Bøgh (c. 1933-2011) was an international speedway rider from Denmark. Speedway career Kurt Bøgh won four silver medals and three bronze medals during the Danish Individual Speedway Championship in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1973 and 1974. Nicki Pedersen
Nicki Pedersen (born 2 April 1977) is a Danish motorcycle speedway rider. He has won the World Championship in 2003, 2007 and 2008 and was a World Cup winner with Denmark in 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. His brother, Ronni Pedersen, has also ridden in the Speedway Grand Prix and World Cup. Career Domestic teams Pedersen began speedway racing aged 11 at Danish club Fjelsted. He started his Polish speedway career in 1999 with Polish second division club Start Gniezno and has since ridden for GTŻ Grudziądz, Wybrzeże Gdańsk, ZKŻ Zielona Góra and ŻKS ROW Rybnik. Rasmus Jensen is a Danish motorcycle speedway rider. He is currently riding for Holsted Tigers in the Danish Speedway League and Gdańsk in the Polish Ekstraliga. Career Rasmus Jensen's career began in the year 2001. His first season in British racing was with Plymouth in 2013; at the end of the season, his official average was 7. At the end of the following 2014 Premier League season, his average was 6.14, and he was in fourth place among the Plymouth Devils riders' averages. Jensen completed 2016 with a 6.14 average and completed 2018 with a 6.59 average. He spent 2019 with the Second Division club Glasgow Tigers, and as of the 33rd issue of averages that season, he had an official average of 8.34, making his average the second highest on the team, behind British rider Craig Cook. Jacob Thorssell
Jacob Thorssell (born 24 July 1993) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. He is a two times Swedish national champion. Career Thorssell joined Wolverhampton Wolves in the Elite League for the 2012 season, as a replacement for Pontus Aspgren who had picked up an injury. After impressing at Wolves, Thorssell was announced in the permanent line-up for the 2013 season. After continuing to impress in 2013 and also in 2014 Thorssell made the step up to being one of Wolverhampton's three heat leaders for the 2015 season, and was the first rider to be announced in their team. He remained at Wolves for eight seasons until the end of the 2019 season. From 2021 to 2022 he rode for Opole in the Polish leagues and since 2019 has ridden for Dackarna in his home country. Thomas Jørgensen (born 14 July 1992, Aalborg, Denmark), is a Danish speedway rider. Speedway career Thomas first came to notice in the United Kingdom in July 2010, whilst a member of the Team Viking touring side. In a meeting against Plymouth he broke the track record and became the first rider to go below 50 seconds. Following a string of impressive performances on that tour Thomas attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs, eventually signing a contract with Scunthorpe Scorpions for the 2011 season. Thomas returned to the United Kingdom late in 2010 for a one off meeting at Scunthorpe where he became winner of the inaugural Rob Woffinden memorial trophy.
