Holmes Community College
Holmes Community College is a public community college headquartered in Goodman, Mississippi. It also has campuses in Grenada; Ridgeland; and Goodman, the location of the main or original campus. Holmes has satellite campuses in Attala, Webster, and Yazoo counties as well. Holmes Community College was established in 1911, when plans were made to found Holmes County Agricultural High School in Goodman, Mississippi. The town of Goodman provided of land (along with free water from the community's artesian well) on the west side of town, and the Board of Trustees purchased an additional adjacent to the original school location. Trumaine "Joe" Sykes (born November 22, 1982) is a professional American football defensive end who is currently a free agent. Roy Edward Oswalt (; born August 29, 1977) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. Oswalt played for the majority of his Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the Houston Astros. Walter Jones Jr. (born January 19, 1974) is an American former professional football player who was an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons. Born in Alabama, he played college football for the Florida State Seminoles. Jones played his entire professional career with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was a seven-time All-Pro selection and eventual NFL 2000s All-Decade Team honoree.
