Eduardo Ladislao Holmberg
Eduardo Ladislao Holmberg (27 July 1852, in Buenos Aires – 4 November 1937) was an Argentine natural historian and novelist, one of the leading figures in Argentine biology. Together with Florentino Ameghino he undertook the inventory of Argentine flora and fauna, and explored all the ecoregions in the country, summarizing for the first time the biodiversity of its territory. The son of botanical aficionado and grandson of the Baron Holmberg, Holmburg accompanied Argentine '' Libertador'' Manuel Belgrano on his campaigns and introduced the cultivation of the ''camellia'' to Argentina. As director of the Buenos Aires Zoological Garden he greatly developed its scientific aspect, publishing booklets and providing printed media for a learned appreciation of its contents. Elena Angélica Dolores Holmberg Lanusse (24 May 1931 – disappeared 20 December 1978), better known as Elena Holmberg, was an Argentine diplomat who was kidnapped and assassinated in 1978. Nils Holmberg
Nils Gösta Holmberg (23 December 1902 – 4 August 1981) was a communist leader in Sweden. He was born on 23 December 1902 in Stockholm. Holmberg was a member of the Young Communist League of Sweden (SKU) from 1926 to 1929. He was a member of the executive committee of SKU. Later on, he became a leading member of the mother party, the Communist Party of Sweden (SKP). In 1933 he was inducted into the Central Committee of the party, a position he held until 1956. From 1933 to 1958 he was a member of the board of the Communist Arbetarkommun of Gothenburg and a member of the municipal council of the city from 1935 to 1944. He was also the editor of the daily newspaper of the party in Gothenburg, '' Arbetar-Tidningen''. During the Second World War the government imposed a ban on transporting the publication. Erik Holmberg (astronomer)
Erik Holmberg (13 November 1908 – 1 February 2000) was a Swedish astronomer and cosmologist. He is most famous for his work in the effects of interacting galaxies. This research showed that galaxies that came near each other would likely combine to form a larger galaxy. Personal life In 1908, Holmberg was born to Malcolm and Anna Holmberg in Skillingaryd, Sweden. In 1947 he married Martha Asdahl. They had one daughter named Osa, who was born in 1953. He died on 1 February 2000 in Gothenburg, at the age of 91. Dennis Nels Holmberg (born August 2, 1951) is an American minor league baseball manager for the Bluefield Blue Jays, and was a professional baseball player for eight seasons in the minor leagues. Holmberg attended Brewton-Parker College and was chosen by the Montreal Expos in the 58th round of the 1969 amateur draft, but he declined to sign with them. The next year he was drafted in the 5th round by the Milwaukee Brewers, and he played eight seasons in their farm system. Krister Holmberg, born 1946, is a Swedish chemist. Holmberg took a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1974. He then worked in industry for many years and he was R&D Director of Berol Nobel in Stenungsund, Sweden. Bo Holmberg
Bo Lindor Holmberg (17 November 1942 – 11 February 2010), born in Härnösand, Västernorrlands län, Sweden, was a Swedish politician, Governor of Södermanland, and husband of former Minister for Foreign Affairs Anna Lindh. Biography Holmberg's first major political assignment was as a Commissioner of the Västernorrland County Council from 1976 to 1982. In 1982, he was made Minister for Municipal Affairs in the newly elected Social Democrat Government, and in the following year Minister for Civil Service Affairs, on which post he remained until 1988. He then served as a Member of the Parliament for his home constituency of Västernorrland until being appointed Governor of Södermanland on 1 July 1996. His term ended in 2005.
