Hollywood North is a colloquialism used to describe film production industries and/or film locations north of its namesake, Hollywood, California. The term has been applied principally to the film industry in Canada, specifically to the city of Toronto, Ontario and more recently also Vancouver, British Columbia. Use of the term The title has been claimed for both Toronto, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia. Vancouver Vancouver has been used as a filmmaking location for over a century, beginning with ''The Cowpuncher's Glove'' and ''The Ship's Husband'', both shot in 1910 by the Edison Manufacturing Company. Burnaby
Burnaby is a city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada. Mel Lastman
Melvin Douglas Lastman (March 9, 1933 – December 11, 2021) was a Canadian businessman and politician who served as the third mayor of North York from 1973 to 1997 and 62nd mayor of Toronto from 1998 to 2003. He was the first person to serve as mayor of Toronto following the 1998 amalgamation of Metro Toronto and its six constituent municipalities. John Sewell
John Sewell (born December 8, 1940) is a Canadian politician and lawyer who served as the 58th mayor of Toronto from 1978 to 1980. Background Born and raised in the Beach neighbourhood, in Toronto, Sewell attended Malvern Collegiate Institute and the University of Toronto, graduating with an English Literature degree in 1961.
