Hollywood Express Handicap
The Hollywood Turf Express Handicap is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually during the second half of November at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California Inglewood is a city in southwestern Los Angeles County, California, in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 107,762. It was incorporated on February 14, 1908. The city is in the South Bay .... Formerly a Grade III event raced at a distance of six furlongs on turf, it is open to horses age three and older. The race was not eligible for grading in 2011. The race currently offers a purse of $150,000. There was no race run in 2005 due to condition problems with the Hollywood Park turf course. In 2013, there was a triple dead-heat for second place between No Silent, Chips All In, and Unbridled's Note. The race was won by Boat Trip. Victor Espinoza (born May 23, 1972) is a Mexican jockey in American Thoroughbred horse racing who won the Triple Crown in 2015 on American Pharoah. He began riding in his native Mexico and went on to compete at racetracks in California. Eddie Delahoussaye
Edward J. Delahoussaye (born September 21, 1951) is a retired American Thoroughbred jockey from New Iberia, Louisiana. He began his career in 1968 and ten years later became the top American jockey with 384 wins. He has won the Kentucky Derby in two consecutive years, riding Gato Del Sol in 1982 and Sunny's Halo in 1983 after finishing second in the 1981 Derby. In addition to his wins at the Kentucky Derby, he won the 1988 Preakness Stakes and the 1988 and 1992 Belmont Stakes as well as seven Breeders' Cup races. Eddie Delahoussaye was awarded the George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award in 1981. Swept Overboard (February 6, 1997 - November 1, 2017) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2002 Metropolitan Handicap. Career Swept Overboard's first race was on October 9, 1999, at Santa Anita, where he came in 2nd place. He then went on a three race win streak, starting off the year 2000 with wins at the San Miguel Stakes and the San Pedro Stakes. Starting with his win at the June 23rd, 2001 Robert K. Kerlan Memorial Handicap, he began competing only in graded races. He picked up his next big win on October 6, 2001, by winning the Ancient Title Stakes. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s.
