"Hollywood" is a rock song by Irish band The Cranberries. It is the fourth single from the band's third album, entitled '' To the Faithful Departed''. Plans to record a video clip were abandoned after the band cancelled the remaining of their Free to Decide World Tour and other promotional activities due to lead singer Dolores O'Riordan's health problems. The Cranberries
The Cranberries were an Irish rock band formed in Limerick, Ireland. Originally named the Cranberry Saw Us, the band were formed in 1989 by lead singer Niall Quinn, guitarist Noel Hogan, bassist Mike Hogan and drummer Fergal Lawler. Quinn was replaced as lead singer by Dolores O'Riordan in 1990 and they changed their name to the Cranberries. The band classified themselves as an alternative rock group, but incorporated aspects of indie rock, jangle pop, folk rock, post-punk and pop rock into their sound. The Cranberries rose to international fame in the 1990s with their debut album, '' Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?'', which became a commercial success. Indie rock is a subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Emma Ruth Rundle (born October 10, 1983) is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and visual artist based in Portland, Oregon. Formerly of the Nocturnes and Marriages, she has released five solo albums and is a member of Red Sparowes. Early life and career Rundle was born in Santa Monica, California and moved “back and forth between the Westside and Eastside” when she was growing up before attending Eagle Rock High School. She was raised in Los Angeles with her younger sister in a household where a lot of folk music was played. As a teenager, Rundle lived with her grandmother until the end of her life. After a massive earthquake in her hometown, her mother took her into the legendary folk music store McCabe's and told her she could pick one instrument to rent for lessons. ''To the Faithful Departed'' is the third studio album by Irish alternative rock band the Cranberries, released on 30 April 1996. The album was made in memory of Denny Cordell who signed the band to Island Records and Joe O'Riordan (vocalist Dolores O'Riordan's grandfather), who had both died that year. The album reached number one in four countries and became the band's highest-charting album on the US ''Billboard'' 200, where it peaked at number four.
