Holly Woods
Anne Elizabeth "Holly" Woods (born August, 4 1953) is an American rock singer whose notable works include five albums in the rock band Toronto. Biography A native of Durham, North Carolina, Woods moved from San Francisco to Toronto in the mid-1970s, after fronting local bands Sass, and then Gambler. She initially performed in Toronto as Annie Woods and Shivers. She was introduced to Brian Allen in 1977 and, with the addition of Scott Kreyer, Nick Costello and Jimmy Fox (all native New Yorkers), plus Sheron Alton, the band Toronto was formed. After a string of Top 40 hits and nearly 700,000 albums sold, Toronto disbanded in 1985. In 1986, Woods and Kreyer regrouped and recorded a new album which was never released. In 2007, "lost" masters were discovered and released as the eight-song album '' Live It Up!'' These songs were recorded in Atlanta, in 1986, with producer Sonny Limbo and bandmate Kreyer. Live It Up! (Holly Woods Album)
''Live It Up!'' is Holly Woods's final album. It was recorded in 1986 after Toronto's label, Solid Gold Records, went into receivership forcing the band to split up. Two of the members, Holly Woods and Scott Kreyer, regrouped and continued on to a studio in Atlanta to record new tracks with producer Sonny Limbo. The tapes were shelved for over twenty years due to the preceding reputation of Solid Gold Records and subsequent death of Limbo. ''Assault & Flattery'' is Toronto's sixth and final album, released in 1984. The album features only two original band members, Anne "Holly" Woods and Scott Kreyer. Released as "Holly Woods & Toronto" which hints at Holly's increasing control and autonomy in the band at this time. The album was produced by Mike Flicker who produced five albums for Heart - the band Toronto are most often compared to. ''Lookin' for Trouble'' is the 1980 debut album of Canadian rock band Toronto. Most tracks on the album were released as a singles. The U.S. release uses different cover artwork and excludes the final track "Let's Spend the Night Together". The album reached Platinum status in Canada, but did not chart in the US. The original cover art was designed by Hugh Syme and was originally intended to be the cover art for Max Webster's '' High Class in Borrowed Shoes''.
