Holly McNarland (born 23 October 1975) is a Canadian musician, singer and songwriter, who was most prominent in the 1990s.Mike Roberts, "Riding the buzz: Wonder gal McNarland not as dark as the songs". ''The Province'', 18 July 1995. Career Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, McNarland's background is Métis. She moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in the early 1990s. She released her debut EP ''Sour Pie'' independently in 1995, before it was rereleased nationally by MCA Records in 1996. '' Stuff'', her full-length debut album, was released in 1997. The album's most successful single was " Numb", which reached the Canadian top 10. At the 1998 Juno Awards, she won the Best New Solo Artist category, and was nominated for Best Alternative Album for ''Stuff'' and Best Video for "Elmo". The Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year is presented annually at Canada's Juno Awards to honour the best album of the year in the alternative rock and/or indie rock genres. The award was first presented in 1995 under the name Best Alternative Album, and adopted its current name in 2003. Achievements Arcade Fire and July Talk have won the award three times to date, while Broken Social Scene and Rufus Wainwright have won the award twice each. ''Seven Circles'' is the seventh studio album by Canadian band The Tea Party, released in 2004. It was the band's last album prior to their split in 2005. The album continues the style of the band's two previous offerings (''The Interzone Mantras'' in 2001 and ''Triptych (The Tea Party album), Triptych'' in 1999) by combining world music influences with Rock music, rock instrumentation and electronic music, electronic studio techniques. The album is also one of the band's most positive sounding records, forsaking the dystopian imagery and moody lyrics of past albums, and including several ballads that border on love-song territory. The Tea Party is a Canadian rock band with industrial rock, blues, progressive rock, and Middle Eastern music influences, dubbed " Moroccan roll" by the media. Active throughout the 1990s and up until 2005, the band re-formed in 2011. The Tea Party released eight albums on EMI Music Canada, selling over three million records worldwide, including four double-platinum awards, one platinum and four gold albums in Canada. Malcolm Burn (born October 4, 1960) is a Canadian-born music producer, recording engineer and musician. Emmylou Harris's ''Red Dirt Girl'', produced by Burn, won Best Contemporary Folk Album at the 2001 Grammys. Biography Born in Cornwall, Ontario, Burn grew up in Deep River, Ontario and became lead singer/keyboardist for the 1980s Canadian band Boys Brigade. Following the dissolution of that group, he turned towards music production and solo work. In 1988 Burn relocated to New Orleans where he would work with Daniel Lanois (known for his work with U2 & Peter Gabriel) on a number of projects. Their collaboration began with Burn playing keyboards and guitar on Lanois' solo debut record '' Acadie''. Emm Gryner (born 8 June 1975 in Sarnia, Ontario) is a Canadian-Filipino singer, songwriter, recording artist, and author. She has released 20 albums as a solo performer, and has collaborated with artists including David Bowie and Chris Hadfield. Early life Gryner's childhood was spent in Forest, Ontario. Her father was of half Irish heritage and her mother was Filipina. She started to learn piano at age 4, picked up bass around age 14, and later took up guitar as well. Gryner attended North Lambton Secondary School in Forest, Ontario. Following high school, she graduated from Fanshawe College's Music Industry Arts program in 1995.
