Boyle Heights, historically known as Paredón Blanco, is a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California, located east of the Los Angeles River. It is one of the city's most notable and historic Chicano/Mexican-American communities and is known as a bastion of Chicano culture, hosting cultural landmarks like Mariachi Plaza and events like the annual Día de los Muertos celebrations. History Boyle Heights was called ("White Bluff") during the Spanish, Mexican, and early American periods. Hollenbeck Park
Hollenbeck Park is a city park in the Boyle Heights district of Los Angeles, California. It is located on the corner of Saint Louis and Fourth Streets, near Boyle Avenue. The park features grassy knolls, picnic areas, playgrounds, a skateboard park, and a man-made lake. History Hollenbeck Park has been a lush oasis in the neighborhood since 1892. The park was named for John Edward Hollenbeck (1829-1885), founder of First National Bank, whose widow, along with former L.A. Mayor William Workman, donated of land. In May 1929 the Laurel and Hardy film ''Men O' War'' was filmed here, back when there were still rental boats for the public. Hollenbeck Hall
The Big 4 Fair Art Hall, also known as Hollenbeck Hall, is a historic building located in the Wapello County Fairgrounds in Eldon, Iowa, United States. The single-story brick structure was built in 1911, replacing an older building that had been destroyed in a fire. It is thought to be the oldest original brick building on a fairgrounds in the state. with The building has four wings that were devoted to the four Iowa counties in the Big 4 Fair Association, Wapello, Davis (South), Jefferson (east), and Van Buren (southeast). People from each county would display their produce, grain, and arts and crafts in their county's wing. During other times of the year, the building was used for meetings and entertainment. The Big 4 Fair was established in 1891 and folded in 1917.
