The Hole-in-the-Wall Gang was a gang in the American Wild West, which took its name from the Hole-in-the-Wall Pass in Johnson County, Wyoming, where several outlaw gangs had their hideouts. Description The Hole-in-the-Wall Gang was not simply one large organized gang of outlaws but rather was made up of several separate gangs, all operating out of the Hole-in-the-Wall Pass, using it as their base of operations. The gangs formed a coalition, each planning and carrying out its own robberies with very little interaction with the other gangs. At times, members of one gang would ride along with other gangs, but usually each gang operated separately, meeting up only when they were each at the hideout at the same time. Geographically, the hideout had all the advantages needed for a gang attempting to evade the authorities. The Hole in the Wall Gang is the name of a comedy group from Northern Ireland, who came to prominence in the mid-1990s with the extremely popular satirical comedy ''Give My Head Peace''. The line up consists of Tim McGarry, Damon Quinn, Marty Reid and Michael McDowell, all of whom were born in 1964. They were originally known as the "Hole in the Wall Theatre Company", before adopting the name Hole in the Wall Gang when they moved to television. In 1992, the group won a UK Sony Award for Best Radio Comedy for their first radio series ''A Perforated Ulster''. They then won a Royal Television Society Award for Best Regional Programme in 1996, for ''Two Ceasefires and a Wedding'', the prelude to ''Give My Head Peace''. ''A Perforated Ulster'' won a Celtic Media Festival award in 2019. Anthony Spilotro
Anthony John Spilotro (May 19, 1938 – June 14, 1986), nicknamed "Tony the Ant", was an American mobster and high ranking member for the Chicago Outfit in Las Vegas during the 1970s and '80s. Spilotro managed the Outfit's illegal casino profits (the " skim") when four of the casinos, The Stardust, The Fremont, The Hacienda, and The Marina, were managed by Frank Rosenthal, replacing Outfit member John Roselli in Las Vegas. He was the leader of the "Hole in the Wall Gang", which he formed in Las Vegas when he moved there in 1971. Spilotro eventually ran afoul of his organized crime overseers who disapproved of his handling of their Las Vegas affairs, and who then arranged his murder on June 14, 1986. Spilotro served as the basis for the character Nicky Santoro in Martin Scorsese's 1995 film ''Casino''. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, based in Ashford, Connecticut, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, residential summer camp, and year-round center serving children and their families coping with cancer and other serious illnesses and conditions. History The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was founded by actor Paul Newman in 1988. The camp is named after the gang in Newman's film '' Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid''. The camp is a parcel of land including a lake. Services The camp's programs include year-round outreach to hospitals and clinics, and ongoing services for children, families and caregivers.
