Alex Holcombe
Alex Bernard Holcombe (born November 22, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for Kashmere High School in Houston, Texas before playing college basketball for the Baylor Bears. Holcombe was selected by the Sacramento Kings as the 44th overall pick in the 1993 NBA draft but never played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He instead played professionally in Europe, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Japan, Venezuela and the United States minor leagues. His son, Alex Holcombe, plays college basketball for the Dallas Baptist Patriots. Brett Holcombe
Brett Holcombe is an Australian Paralympic amputee athlete. At the 1984 New York/Stoke Mandeville Games, he won three gold medals in the Men's Long Jump A6, Men's Triple Jump A6, and Men's 4×100 m relay A4–9 events and a silver medal in the Men's High Jump A6 event. He also participated in the Australian men's standing volleyball team at the 2000 Sydney Games. Carven Holcombe
Carven Holcombe (born September 10, 1964) is an American former basketball player known for his college career at Texas Christian University (TCU) between 1983 and 1987. He also played professionally in Belgium, France, and Israel at the shooting guard position. High school and college careers Born in Houston, Texas, Holcombe attended Yates High School in his hometown, where he was a teammate of Rickie Winslow. As a senior in 1982–83, he was named "Who's Who" in basketball and was selected as the Texas High School Player of the Year after averaging 25 points and nine rebounds per game while leading Yates to a 37–3 record. Holcombe went on to play college basketball for the TCU Horned Frogs from 1983 to 1987. In his collegiate debut against UT Arlington, he scored 26 points. In 1982–83, he was selected as the Southwest Conference (SWC) Freshman of the Year after averaging 13.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Ken Holcombe
Kenneth Edward Holcombe (August 23, 1918 – March 15, 2010) was an American Major League Baseball pitcher with the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Browns and Boston Red Sox between 1945 and 1953. Holcombe batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Burnsville, North Carolina. Career Holcombe entered the majors in 1945 with the New York Yankees, playing for them one year before joining the Cincinnati Reds (1948), Chicago White Sox (1950–52), St. Louis Browns (1952) and Boston Red Sox (1953). In his rookie season, he showed promise as a solid relief pitcher, reliever for the Yankees, going 3–3 with 1.79 earned run average, ERA and 55⅓ innings pitched, innings in 23 appearances. But he developed a chronic bursitis that eventually ended his career.
