Hokksund
Hokksund is a town in the municipality of Øvre Eiker in the county of Viken, Norway. History Hokksund is the administrative centre, and largest town in Øvre Eiker, with a population of around 8,000. Hokksund is located 18 km west of Drammen. The river Drammenselva flows through the town, 500m from the centre. Hokksund has developed on both sides of the river. Hokksund is located in a rich agricultural district. Forestry has traditionally been the principal industry, but engineering, especially electrical as well as the cement industry, have become important within the past century. There are three hotels in Hokksund and a campsite there, which holds up to 240 caravans. Transportation Hokksund Station ('' Hokksund stasjon'') is on the Sørlandet Line. The station is served by local trains between Kongsberg via Oslo to Eidsvoll operated by the Norwegian State Railways. Øvre Eiker is a municipality in the traditional and electoral district Buskerud in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Eiker. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Hokksund. The old municipality of Eiker was divided into ''Øvre Eiker'' (upper Eiker) and ''Nedre Eiker'' (lower) on 1 July 1885. Jonas Lie (writer)
Jonas Lauritz Idemil Lie (; 6 November 1833 – 5 July 1908) was a Norwegian novelist, poet, and playwright who, together with Henrik Ibsen, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson and Alexander Kielland, is considered to have been one of '' the Four Greats'' of 19th century Norwegian literature. Background Jonas Lie was born at Hokksund in Øvre Eiker, in the county of Buskerud, Norway. His parents were Mons Lie (1803–81) and Pauline Christine Tiller (1799–1877). Five years after his son's birth, Lie's father was appointed sheriff of Tromsø, which lies within the Arctic Circle, and young Jonas Lie spent six of the most impressionable years of his life at that remote port. He was sent to the naval school at Fredriksværn; but his defective eyesight caused him to give up a life at sea. Sørlandet Line
The Sørlandet Line ( no, Sørlandsbanen) is a railway line between Drammen (though this is connected to Oslo by means of the Drammen Line) via Kristiansand to Stavanger. The line is long between Oslo and Stavanger. History The railway was constructed in several phases, the first section being opened in 1871 and the last not opened until 1944. While there was a continual construction work from Oslo westward as far as Moi, the Jæren Line from Egersund to Stavanger in Western Norway was opened in 1878. Up to 1913 the name used on plans and for the completed sections was the Vestlandet Line (''The West Country Line''). The Sørlandet Line was completed by the German occupation force during World War II. It was opened for regular traffic on 1 May 1944. The line was an important communications link for transportation of troops, as well as war material. Geir Holte (born 3 October 1959) is a Norwegian cross-country skier. He was born in Drammen, and represented the club Hokksund IL. He competed at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. Jürgen Ahrend
Jürgen Ahrend (born 28 April 1930) is a German organ builder famous for restoring instruments such as the Rysum organ and the Arp Schnitger organ in St. Jacobi, Hamburg (St James's Church) as well as building original instruments. He is interviewed extensively in the film '' Martinikerk Rondeau'', released in 2009. Ahrend was born in Göttingen on 28 April 1930. From 1946 to 1948, he served an apprenticeship in the firm of . Afterwards, he worked for the firm as employee. In 1954, he formed a partnership with in Leer-Loga, Lower Saxony. They produced 54 new organs and made 19 restorations, until Brunzema left the firm in 1972. Since January 1972, the workshop has been operating under the name ''Jürgen Ahrend Orgelbau''. Tor Håkon Holte
Tor Håkon Holte (born 1 August 1958) is a Norwegian cross-country skier who competed from 1982 to 1987. He won the 4 × 10 km relay gold at the 1985 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld and finished ninth in the 50 km event at those same championships. Holte also won the 50 km event at the Holmenkollen ski festival in 1984. His best individual finish at the Winter Olympics was eight in the 15 km event in 1984. Holte's only other international victory was a 50 km event in Lahti in 1985. Holte has four individual Norwegian championships on 50 km and one on 15 km. Kate Gulbrandsen
Kate Gulbrandsen (born 6 August 1965 in Slemmestad) is a Norwegian singer. In 1986 she represented Norway at the Yamaha Song Festival in Tokyo with the song "Carnival". She won the Norwegian national final Melodi Grand Prix 1987 in a very close regional vote, giving her the opportunity to compete for Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 1987 with the song " Mitt liv" (My Life), written by Rolf Løvland and Hanne Krogh. Sverre Isachsen
Sverre Isachsen (born 11 November 1970) is a Norwegian rallycross driver. Career Isachsen started with motorsports in 1989, and became Norwegian Rallycross Champion in 1999 and 2000. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 he became the European Rallycross Champion with a Ford Focus. He was also awarded the "Driver of the Year" title by the Norwegian Autosport Federation in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, Isachen signed a three-year deal to drive the Global RallyCross Championship for Subaru Puma Rallycross Team, together with Dave Mirra and Bucky Lasek. He previously drove the 2016 Subaru WRX STI GRC Car for Subaru. After the 2016 season, he and his teammate Bucky Lasek left Subaru to pursuit in other areas.
