Hoheluft-West
is an area composed of two quarters of Hamburg, which are characterized by their largely preserved architecture. Administratively, Hoheluft is divided into two quarters: in the borough of Hamburg-Nord, and in the borough of Eimsbüttel. The Hoheluftchaussee is the boundary between the two quarters. With about 22,673 inhabitants per square kilometer (as of 2016), Hoheluft is one of the most densely populated quarters in all of Germany. Geography The Isebekkanal is the southeast border of Hoheluft. Behind it lies the quarter of Harvestehude. Isebekkanal
Isebekkanal is a canal in Hamburg, Germany. It has a length of about 3 km and is a remnant of the former stream of Isebek. The small ''Ottersbek'' stream flows into it. The Isebekkanal flows into the Alster. Location The canal is located in the quarters of Eimsbüttel, Hoheluft-West, Hoheluft-Ost, Harvestehude, and Eppendorf. Isebekkanal, especially the adjacent street of Kaiser-Friedrich-Ufer (also known under the acronym ''Kaifu'') is popular with joggers and walkers, also the public open air pool of Kaifu-Bad can be found here. History Isebek means ''iron stream''. The name derives from the high iron content of the water. Harvestehude
Harvestehude (; Hamburgisch: ''Harvstehuud'') is a quarter of Hamburg, Germany, in the borough of Eimsbüttel. It is located on the eastern boundaries of the borough near lake Außenalster. Geography Harvestehude borders the quarters of Rotherbaum, Eimsbüttel, and Hoheluft-West, all within the Eimsbüttel borough, as well as Hoheluft-Ost, Eppendorf, and Winterhude in the neighbouring Hamburg-Nord borough. Harvestehude is located on a Geest ridge west of the Außenalster. To the north the canal of Isebekkanal separates Harvestehude of Hoheluft-Ost and Eppendorf. History The name is derived from the former name of the local St. John's Monastery, ''Herwardeshude'', which had been located in Altona near today's street and small stream of Pepermölenbek Pepermölenbek is a small river of Hamburg, Germany. Eimsbüttel () is one of the seven boroughs (Bezirke) of Hamburg, Germany. In 2020 the population was 269,118. History On March 1, 2008 Eimsbüttel lost part of its area to the borough Altona where it formed the Sternschanze quarter. Geography In 2006 according to the statistical office of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, the borough Eimsbüttel has a total area of 50.1 km2. The borough Eimsbüttel is split into nine quarters: Eidelstedt, Eimsbüttel, Harvestehude, Hoheluft-West, Lokstedt, Niendorf, Rotherbaum, Schnelsen and Stellingen. Hamburg-Nord (meaning ''Hamburg North'') is one of the seven boroughs of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, in northern Germany. In 2020, according to the residents registration office, the population was 315,514 in an area of 57.5 km2. 1997 Hamburg State Election
The 1997 Hamburg state election was held on 21 September 1997 to elect the members of the 16th Hamburg Parliament. The incumbent government of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and Statt Party under First Mayor Henning Voscherau was defeated as Statt lost all its seats. The SPD subsequently formed a coalition with the Green Alternative List (GAL). 2008 Hamburg State Election
The 2008 Hamburg state election was held on 24 February 2008 to elect the members of the 19th Hamburg Parliament. The incumbent Christian Democratic Union led by First Mayor Ole von Beust government lost its majority. The CDU subsequently formed a coalition government with the Green Alternative List.
