Hogenakkal (village)
Hogenakkal is a hamlet in the Pennagaram taluk of Dharmapuri district, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Etymology The hamlet of Hogenakkal shares its etymology with the nearby falls, deriving from the Kannada words 'hoge' and 'kall', meaning smoke and rock respectively. Hogenakkal basically means smoke over the rocks, referencing the appearance of the mist of the waterfalls. Geography The hamlet is close to the confluence of the Kaveri and Chinnar rivers, just upstream of Hogenakkal Falls. It is near the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border, which is partly formed by the Kaveri River. Hogenakkal is in the western part of Pennagaram revenue block, which is in the western extreme of both the taluk and the district. A Postal Index Number (PIN; sometimes redundantly a PIN code) refers to a six-digit code in the Indian postal code system used by India Post. On 15 August 2022, the PIN system celebrated its 50th anniversary. History The PIN system was introduced on 15 August 1972 by Shriram Bhikaji Velankar, an additional secretary in the Government of India's Ministry of Communications. The system was introduced to simplify the manual sorting and delivery of mail by eliminating confusion over incorrect addresses, similar place names, and different languages used by the public. Reserved Forests And Protected Forests Of India
A reserved forest (also called a reserve forest) and protected forest in India are forests accorded a certain degree of protection. The concept was introduced in the Indian Forest Act of 1927 during the British Raj to refer to forests granted protection under the British crown in British India, but not associated suzerainties. After Indian independence, the Government of India retained the status of the reserved and protected forests, and extended protection to other forests. Many forests that came under the jurisdiction of the Government of India during the political integration of India were initially granted such protection. Chinnar River (Tamil Nadu)
The Chinnar River originates in the Annaimalai Hills below a grassy pass between the hills Kumarikkal Mala (8,275 ft) and Kaladekatti Malai In Idukki District, Kerala state South India. Kaveri
The Kaveri (also known as Cauvery, the anglicized name) is one of the major Indian rivers flowing through the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The Kaveri river rises at Talakaveri in the Brahmagiri range in the Western Ghats, Kodagu district of the state of Karnataka, at an elevation of 1,341 m above mean sea level and flows for about 800 km before its outfall into the Bay of Bengal.
