Charles Avery (May 28, 1873 – July 23, 1926) was an American silent film, silent-film actor, film director, and screenwriter. One of the original seven Keystone Kops,Lahue, Kalton (1971); ''Mack Sennett's Keystone: The man, the myth and the comedies''; New York: Barnes; . p. 194. Avery directed Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle in thirty-one comedies while at Keystone Studios. Early life and education He was born Charles Avery Bradford in Chicago, Illinois. His sister Charlotte was also an actress, as was his mother Marie Stanley. His father was a playwright. Career He started acting in the theatre, playing the title role in ''Charley's Aunt'', and the part of Pegleg Hopkins in the adaptation of ''David Harum'' which had William H. Crane in the lead role. Ford Sterling
Ford Sterling (born George Ford Stich Jr.; November 3, 1883 – October 13, 1939) was an American comedian and actor best known for his work with Keystone Studios. One of the 'Big 4', he was the original chief of the Keystone Cops. Biography Born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, he began his career in silent films in 1911 with Biograph Studios. When director Mack Sennett left to set up Keystone Studios in 1912, Sterling followed him. There, he performed various roles, such as 'Chief Teeheezel' in the Keystone Cops series of slapstick comedies in a successful career that spanned twenty-five years. From 1913 and throughout the 1910s, Sterling was among the most popular screen comedians in the world. Charlie Chaplin recalled that, when joining Keystone in early 1914, he was at first dismayed to discover that he was expected to imitate Sterling. Harold Lloyd Filmography
These are the known films of Harold Lloyd (1893–1971), an American actor and filmmaker most famous for his hugely successful and influential silent film comedies. Most of these films are known to survive in Lloyd's personal archive collection and in various film archives around the world. Some are also available on DVD or Blu-ray. The negatives of many of Lloyd's early short films were lost in a fire at his estate in 1943. The losses include five of the six Willie Work films, 53 of the 67 Lonesome Luke films, and 15 of the 81 one-reel Glasses character films. All of Lloyd's films from '' Bumping into Broadway'' (1919) onward exist in complete form in the archives. He carefully preserved his feature films, and they remain in excellent condition. All of the films are listed in order of release date. He used the name William Goodrich on the films he directed from 1924 onward. Arbuckle's films share the common fate of silent movies.
