Hockey At The 2018 Commonwealth Games
Field hockey at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held on the Gold Coast, Australia from 5 to 14 April. The hockey competition was held at the Gold Coast Hockey Centre. This is the sixth time that the hockey competition was held, following the sport's debut at the 1998 Games. Competition schedule The following is the competition schedule for the hockey competitions: Qualification A total of ten men's and women's team qualified to compete at the games. Each nation may enter one team in each tournament (18 athletes per team) for a maximum total of 36 athletes. The host nation (Australia) along with the top nine ranked nations in the FIH World Rankings as of 31 October 2017, qualified for the games. Jeremy Edwards (field Hockey)
Jeremy Edwards (born 23 December 1991) is an Australian field hockey player. Edwards was born in Hobart, Tasmania, and made his senior international debut in a 2013 test series against Korea, in Perth, Western Australia. In 2017, Edwards was elevated into the senior national team from the development squad, and has been a regular team member since. In March 2018, Edwards was selected in the Australian national squad for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Cory Bennett (born 12 July 1991) is a field hockey player from New Zealand. Personal life Cory Bennett was born and raised in North Shore, New Zealand. He currently works as an insurance broker in Auckland. Career Club hockey In the New Zealand National Hockey League, Bennett plays hockey for North Harbour. National team Cory Bennett made his debut for the Black Sticks in 2013, at the Sultan Azalan Shah Cup, in Ipoh, Malaysia. Since his debut, Bennett has been a regular inclusion in the Black Sticks side. Jeremy Thomas Hayward (born 3 March 1993) is an Australian field hockey player. Hayward was part of the Australian team who won the 2014 Men's Hockey World Cup. The team defeated the Netherlands 6–1 in the final. Hayward was also awarded Young Player of the Tournament at this event. Andrew Lewis Charter (born 30 March 1987) is an Australian field hockey player. He played club hockey for Central Hockey Club, winning a championship with the team in 2004 and 2008. He played for the Australian Capital Territory team in the Australian Hockey League. He is a member of the Australia men's national field hockey team. Dylan Wotherspoon (born 9 April 1993) is an Australia men's national field hockey team, Australian International Field Hockey player who plays for NMHC Nijmegen. His normal position is forward. Trent Grant Mitton (born 26 November 1990) is an Australian field hockey player who plays for the WA Thundersticks and the Kookaburras. Mitton is a striker. Mitton first joined the Australian team as part of the 19-member Champions Trophy squad at the 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy in Mönchengladbach, Germany.
