Adolf Hoch
Adolf Hoch (June 17, 1910 – May 24, 1992) was an Austrian architecture, architect. He was born in Vimperk, Winterberg, Austria-Hungary, Austrian-Hungarian Empire. In 1948 he won a gold medal in the art competitions of the Olympic Games for his "Skisprungschanze auf dem Kobenzl" ("Ski jumping hill on the Kobenzl"). Hoch was the last Austrian gold medalist in art competition. He was the architect of the Opernpassage in Vienna, a pedestrian underpass of the most busy crossroads of the city near the opera house. It was built in 1955 and opened on 4 November 1955, one day before the reopening of the Vienna State Opera after World War II. Since then it has been a symbol of the modern spirit in architecture and urban planning in Vienna. Cooperating with the Federal Office for the Protection of Monuments in Austria the City of Vienna undertook a complete restoration of the structure, which was reopened on 17 September 2013.

Ian Robert Maxwell (born Ján Ludvík Hyman Binyamin Hoch; 10 June 1923 – 5 November 1991) was a Czechoslovak-born British media proprietor, member of parliament (MP), suspected spy, and fraudster. Early in his life, Maxwell escaped from Nazi occupation in his native country, joined the Czechoslovak Army in exile during World War II and was decorated after active service in the British Army. In subsequent years he worked in publishing, building up Pergamon Press to a major academic publisher. Matthew Hoch (born December 29, 1975 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American academic and teacher of singing. Hoch is currently professor of voice at Auburn University, where he teaches applied voice, lyric diction, and vocal literature courses. From 2006–2012 he was assistant professor of voice at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, where he was a member of the voice faculty, taught vocal literature, and served as coordinator of voice studies. From 2006–2008, he conducted the Shorter Chorus. Before coming to Shorter University, he was assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at the University of Wisconsin–Barron County. Lambert Anthony Hoch (February 6, 1903 – June 27, 1990) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Bismarck (1952–1956) and Bishop of Sioux Falls (1956–1978). Biography Early life Lambert Hoch was born on February 6, 1903, in Elkton, South Dakota, to George and Philomena (née Kniest) Hoch, the youngest of their nine children. After graduating from Elkton High School, he entered Creighton University at Omaha, Nebraska in 1920. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Creighton in 1924, and then studied theology at St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. Priesthood Hoch was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Sioux Falls by Bishop Bernard Mahoney on May 30, 1928. Joseph Paul Johannes Hoch (3 May 1815 – 19 September 1874) was a German lawyer and benefactor. He willed his fortune to the Hoch Conservatory Foundation, founded in 1878 in Frankfurt. It is, after Leipzig and Berlin, the seventh oldest music conservatory in Germany. He was born and died in Frankfurt am Main. Life Hoch came from a family which had been in Frankfurt am Main for generations. All four of his grandparents had lived there. His father, the lawyer Johann Peter Hieronymus Hoch (1779 – 1831), was a magistrate and senator who, in 1829, became mayor of the Free City of Frankfurt. His mother, the Swiss-born Ottilie von Sodenstern, was also the child of a magistrate and senator. He began to learn piano and violin at a young age. James Hoch is an American poet. Biography The son of a teacher-coach and a saleswoman, Hoch grew up in Collingswood, New Jersey, with three older siblings. Hoch studied philosophy at Millersville University and graduated from University of Maryland with an MFA in creative writing/poetry. He has taught at Franklin and Marshall College and Lynchburg College. He now teaches in the Salameno School of Humanities and Global Studies at Ramapo College in New Jersey.
