Hobart Mills, California
Hobart Mills is a former settlement in Nevada County, California. It is situated at an elevation of above sea level. The town is named after Walter Scott Hobart, Sr. who operated a sawmill in the area since 1897. Hobart was a leading lumberman in the Lake Tahoe district from the 1860s until his death in 1892. There was a post office in the town during the period of 1900 through 1938. The politician Patrick J. Nevada County () is a county located in the U.S. state of California, in the Sierra Nevada. As of the 2020 census, the population was 102,241. The county seat is Nevada City. Sawmill
A sawmill (saw mill, saw-mill) or lumber mill is a facility where logs are cut into lumber. Modern sawmills use a motorized saw to cut logs lengthwise to make long pieces, and crosswise to length depending on standard or custom sizes (dimensional lumber).
