Aaron Hobart
Aaron Hobart (June 26, 1787 – September 19, 1858) was a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts. Born in Abington, Massachusetts, Hobart pursued classical studies and graduated from Brown University in 1805. He studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Abington. He served as member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and served in the Massachusetts State Senate. Hobart was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Sixteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Zabdiel Sampson. He was reelected as a Democratic-Republican to the Seventeenth Congress, elected as an Adams-Clay Republican to the Eighteenth Congress, and reelected as an Adams candidate to the Nineteenth Congress, and served from November 24, 1820, to March 3, 1827. Lauren Hobart (born 1969/1970) is an American businesswoman, and has been the CEO of Dick's Sporting Goods since February 2021. Early life and education Hobart earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University. Sarah Dyer Hobart (, Dyer; pseudonym, Floyd Bentley; September 20, 1845 – November 1, 1921) was an American author of poetry, prose, and songs. Some of her more notable poems included, "The Record of Company B", "The Legend of St. Freda", and "Hector's Recompense". Her sonnets are perhaps her best work. She died in 1921. Early life and education Sarah Dyer was born in Otsego, Wisconsin, Otsego, Wisconsin Territory, September 20, 1845, or 1846. Her father, Wayne Bidwell Dyer (1813–1899), was the first man to make a home in the town, having arrived in Otsego in May 1844. Her parents were among the earliest settlers in that part of Wisconsin, and her early life was that of a pioneer. She became well-educated. Career She started her literary career at the age of eighteen, and was a contributor to the periodical press thereafter. Rose Hobart (born Rose Kefer; May 1, 1906 – August 29, 2000) was an American actress and a Screen Actors Guild official. Early years Born in New York City, Hobart was the daughter of a cellist in the New York Symphony Orchestra, Paul Kefer, and an opera singer, Marguerite Kefer. Her parents' divorce when she was seven resulted in Hobart and her sister, Polly, going to France to live with their grandmother. Robert Hobart, 4th Earl of Buckinghamshire, (6 May 17604 February 1816), styled Lord Hobart from 1793 to 1804, was a British Tory politician. Life Buckinghamshire was born at Hampden House, the son of George Hobart, 3rd Earl of Buckinghamshire and Albinia, daughter of Lord Vere Bertie, younger son of Robert Bertie, 1st Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven. He was educated at Westminster School, London and later served in the American Revolutionary War. Political career Buckinghamshire was a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Irish House of Commons for Portarlington from 1784 to 1790 and thereafter for Armagh Borough from 1790 to 1797. Robert Hobart
Sir Robert Henry Hobart, 1st Baronet, (13 September 1836 – 4 August 1928) was a British Liberal Party politician. Biography Hobart was the oldest son of Hon. Henry Lewis Hobart, third son of the 3rd Earl of Buckinghamshire, and Charlotte Selina Moore, daughter of Richard Moore. He was a civil servant in the War Office between 1860 and 1900, and was appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in 1885. In October 1901 the Earl Marshal, the Duke of Norfolk, appointed him a Secretary to the Earl Marshal's office, to work on preparations for the 1902 coronation of King Edward VII. He received the King Edward VII Coronation Medal, and on 11 August 1902 (two days after the coronation) was knighted as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO) for his services. Major General Sir Percy Cleghorn Stanley Hobart, (14 June 1885 – 19 February 1957), also known as "Hobo", was a British military engineer noted for his command of the 79th Armoured Division during the Second World War. He was responsible for many of the specialised armoured vehicles ("Hobart's Funnies") that took part in the invasion of Normandy and later actions. Early life Hobart was born in Naini Tal, British India, to Robert T. Hobart (of the Indian Civil Service), and Janetta (née Stanley). His mother was born in County Tyrone and lived at Roughan Park, near Newmills, between Cookstown and Dungannon. She married Robert Hobart in Tullaniskin Parish Church, Dungannon, on 7 October 1880. Sir Miles Hobart (Circa 1598 – 20 June 1632) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1628 to 1629. Hobart was the son of Miles Hobart of London & Harleyford (though others have confused him with the son of Sir Henry Hobart, 1st Baronet). Kenneth Charles Hobart (born January 27, 1961) is a former professional football player, a quarterback in the USFL and CFL, where he played from 1985–1990. Collegiate career Hobart played college football at the University of Idaho from 1980 –1983, starting at quarterback for the Vandals for four seasons. The first two were in the veer option offense under Jerry Davitch, and the final two in a passing attack under new head coach Dennis Erickson. In Erickson's first season in 1982, Hobart led the Vandals to an record in the regular season and advanced to the quarterfinals of the twelve-team Division I-AA playoffs, falling on the road to eventual champion Eastern Kentucky, and was named offensive player of the year in the Big Sky Conference.
