Hjalmar Mehr
Hjalmar Leo Mehr (November 19, 1910 – December 26, 1979) was a Swedish Social Democratic politician, mayor of Stockholm (1958–1966, 1970–1971) and governor of Stockholm County (1971–1977). He promoted many radical socialist welfare state policies but is mostly remembered and criticized for the redevelopment of Norrmalm, where a significant part of the old Stockholm was demolished. In 1969, Mehr was elected president of the newly established Swedish Association of Local Authorities (''Svenska Kommunförbundet''), an association that existed from 1969 to 2007 (now the Swedish Association of Regions) to interact with the Riksdag of Sweden. In English, the title is often translated as Mayor of Stockholm.c.f. :sv:Stockholms författningsreform 1940 The office of municipal commissioner for finance was set up in 1920, replacing the previous office of mayor. While the mayor (''borgmästare'') before 1920 was appointed by the government, the municipal commissioner for finance is elected by the Stockholm city council. After a reform in 1940, the municipal commissioner for finance always represents the ruling political majority coalition in the city. A county administrative board ( sv, länsstyrelse) is a Swedish Government Agency in each of the counties of Sweden, led by a vice-regal governor ( sv, landshövding) appointed by the government for a term of six years. The lists of gubernatorial officeholders, in most cases, stretches back to 1634 when the counties were created by Chancellor Axel Oxenstierna. The main responsibilities of the county administrative board is to coordinate the development of the county in line with goals set in national politics. Hjalmar Mehr 1963
Hjalmar () and Ingeborg () were a legendary Swedish duo. The male protagonist Hjalmar and his duel for Ingeborg figures in the '' Hervarar saga'' and in '' Orvar-Odd's saga'', as well as in '' Gesta Danorum'', '' Lay of Hyndla'' and a number of Faroese ballads. Hjalmar never lost a battle until meeting a berserker wielding the cursed sword Tyrfing. A tale of two heroes Hjalmar was one of the mythical Swedish king Yngvi's housecarls at Uppsala. He and princess Ingeborg were in love, but the king said no to his requests for marriage, since he hoped for a suitor with a better pedigree. Hjalmar's reputation as a courageous and valiant warrior was great and it reached the most remote parts of Norway, where the Norwegian hero Orvar-Odd felt a desire to test his fighting skills with Hjalmar. Hjalmar Branting
Karl Hjalmar Branting (; 23 November 1860 – 24 February 1925) was a Swedish politician who was the leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Party (SAP) from 1907 until his death in 1925, and three times Prime Minister of Sweden. When Branting came to power in 1920 Swedish general election, 1920, he was the first Social Democratic Prime Minister of Sweden. When taking office for a second term after the 1921 Swedish general election, general election of 1921, he became the first Democratic socialism, democratic socialist head of government in Western Europe elected under universal suffrage.
