Hjalmar Inge Sunde
Hjalmar Inge Sunde (born 29 December 1937) is a Norwegian military officer and former county governor. He finished his secondary education at the school in 1956, and graduated from the Norwegian Military Academy and became a lieutenant in 1960. After taking post-secondary education classes in Norway, Kansas, and Pennsylvania, he reached the rank of lieutenant general in 1987, and was the Commander Allied Forces South Norway (COMSONOR) until 1991. He also represented Norway in the NATO Military Committee. He was the president of the interest group '' Norges Forsvarsforening'' from 1995 to 2001. He was County Governor of Aust-Agder from 1995 until his retirement on 31 December 2007. After his retirement, there was some discussion on combining the position with the County Governor of Vest-Agder and calling it the County Governor of Agder. Lieutenant General
Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. In modern armies, lieutenant general normally ranks immediately below general and above major general; it is equivalent to the navy rank of vice admiral, and in air forces with a separate rank structure, it is equivalent to air marshal. A lieutenant general commands an army corps, made up of typically three army divisions, and consisting of around 60 000 to 70 000 soldiers (U.S.). Storting
The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. A member of Stortinget is known in Norwegian as a ''stortingsrepresentant'', literally "Storting representative". The assembly is led by a president and, since 2009, five vice presidents: the presidium. The members are allocated to twelve standing committees as well as four procedural committees. Signe Marie Stray Ryssdal (née Signe Marie Stray; 22 July 1924–18 May 2019) was a Norwegian lawyer and politician for the Liberal Party. Early life and education Stray Ryssdal was born in Tromøy as a daughter of barristers Sigrid Stray (née Kluge; 1893–1978) and Christian Stray (1894–1981). She finished her secondary education in 1943, and studied law at the University of Oslo from 1945 to 1948. She spent the summer of 1948 studying at the Peace Palace. Career Stray Ryssdal was a deputy judge in Kragerø and Steigen before working as a secretary and inspector in '' Riksskattestyret'' from 1951 to 1956. The Defence Medal 1940–1945 () is the award rewarded to those military and civilian personnel who participated in the fight against the German invasion and occupation of Norway between 1940 and 1945. The Defence Medal 1940–1945 can be awarded both to Norwegian and foreign citizens. The medal may still be awarded due to the large number of participants in the defence of Norway during World War II and the difficulties tracking down all eligible recipients. The medal is in bronze. On the obverse is the coat of arms with the inscription . On the reverse is the royal flag, the flag and national flag. Above these a narrow circle with the inscription (Participant in the struggle). The image is surrounded by a chain. The band is in the Norwegian national colors. The band can be fitted with a rosette if the recipient has distinguished himself several times.
