Emiko Hiyama
Emiko Hiyama ( ja, 肥山 詠美子) is a Japanese computational nuclear physicist whose research concerns computational methods for few-body systems of nucleons. She is the director of the Strangeness Nuclear Physics Laboratory at the Riken Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science, and a professor of physics at Tohoku University. Education and career Hiyama is originally from Fukuoka Prefecture, and studied physics at Kyushu University. She was a researcher for KEK, the Japanese High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, from 2000 to 2004. In 2004, she became an associate professor at Nara Women's University. She moved to Riken in 2008, and became laboratory director there in 2018. From 2017 to 2020 she was also affiliated with the Department of Physics at Kyushu University, and in 2021 she took her present position as a professor at Tohoku University. Masaaki Hiyama
is a Japanese jazz drummer who participated in some of Japan's more well known fusion bands. He was a former member of jazz-fusion band Casiopea. Biography In 1979, he joined a fusion group called Guitarist Creek. They participated in Cross-Wind (a large fusion concert also known as East-West). Masaaki met Casiopea at this time and they became good friends. He also met Hidehiko Matsumoto and his group. He played with the jazz vocalist Henri Kanno, Mikio Masuda, jazz pianist, and other jazz groups. Tamejiro Hiyama (born August 24, 1946) is a Japanese organic chemistry, organic chemist. He is best known for his work in developing the Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi reaction and the Hiyama coupling. He is currently a professor at the Chuo University Research and Development Initiative, and a Professor Emeritus of Kyoto University. Career Hiyama received his Bachelor of Engineering (1969) and Master of Engineering (1971) from Kyoto University. He dropped out of the doctorate track in 1972, and subsequently started working as an assistant for Hitoshi Nozaki at Kyoto University. In 1975, he obtained his doctoral degree, and during 1975-1976 conducted postdoctoral research with Yoshito Kishi at Harvard University. In 1981, he started working at the Sagami Chemical Research Center, and became a principal investigator in 1983, and then chief laboratory manager in 1988.
