Hitra (island)
Hitra is an island in Hitra municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island is the 7th largest island in Norway (excluding Svalbard) and it is the largest island south of the Lofoten archipelago. The island lies between the Trondheimsleia strait and the Frøyfjorden, just southwest of the entrance to the Trondheimsfjorden. Hitra is surrounded by many islands such as Smøla to the southwest; Bispøyan, Helgbustadøya, Dolmøya, and Frøya to the north; Ulvøya, Fjellværsøya, and Leksa to the east; and Hemnskjela and the mainland of Norway to the south. The tall Mørkdalstuva is the highest point on the island. Most of the island's residents live near the coastline. The largest villages on the island are Fillan, Sandstad, Hestvika, Kvenvær, Ansnes, and Melandsjøen. In 2004, Statkraft completed the construction of the Hitra Wind Farm on the island. Trøndelag
Trøndelag (; sma, Trööndelage) is a county in the central part of Norway. It was created in 1687, then named Trondhjem County ( no, Trondhjems Amt); in 1804 the county was split into Nord-Trøndelag and Sør-Trøndelag by the King of Denmark-Norway, and the counties were reunited in 2018 after a vote of the two counties in 2016. Leksa
Leksa refers to two islands in the Trondheimsleia strait in Trøndelag county, Norway. They are located in the municipality of Orkland. Leksa is made up of the smaller north island, Nord-Leksa, and the larger south island, Sør-Leksa. The two islands have been connected by a small causeway since 1986. There are about 30 inhabitants between the two islands with about four farms still in use. Leksa has a store and a post office, and is used as a recreational resort. There is a car ferry from Vernes on the mainland to Nord-Leksa and ten another one to Garten from Nord-Leksa. The Sør-Leksa port is for express catamaran boat between the cities of Trondheim and Kristiansund. Fillan (municipality)
Fillan is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1886 until its dissolution in 1964. It is now part of the municipality of Hitra in Trøndelag county. The municipality included the northeastern part of the island of Hitra surrounding the Fillfjorden, plus about 100 islands, islets, and skerries—including Fjellværsøya and Ulvøya. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Fillan. Other villages in the municipality included Ansnes, Nordbotn, and Ulvan. The former municipality had a church and a chapel in it, both of which now form a parish within the present-day municipality of Hitra. Hitra Wind Farm
Hitra Wind Farm is a 24-turbine wind farm located in the municipality of Hitra in Trøndelag county, Norway and operated by Statkraft. The farm is located on top of the Elsfjellet plateau in the central part of the island of Hitra, just south of the village of Straum and about west of Sandstad. Until the expansion of the Smøla Wind Farm in 2005, Hitra was the largest wind farm in the country and had total cost of . Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag.
